07Softail Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 So if I measured everything correctly, Im having to replace my 2* shims with 4* shims. Gonna do it wednesday. When I look at my truck the rear sits lower than the front with the 2" shackle and block removed. If I still have any vibration issues after the swap Im taking it to a driveline shop and letting them measure everything out. Now im really considering getting spindles for the front. Im really digging the lower front. My only concern isI dont know the torque specs for the upper and lower control arms and tierod ends. Does anyone have that info? Mcgaughys provides torque specs in the instructions. RT 1
POS VETT Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Just finished the 4/6 drop. I like that look. Would you elaborate which kit was used and whether additional steps/mods had done?
ericpdadof3 Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Used the McGaughy's 34170 adjustable kit, and used the 4/6 option. It comes with struts and rear shocks. The rear bump stops were a pain. I have 24" Versante 228s in chrome. We originally ordered 295/35-24 Nexen tires, but they were way to big. Putting 275/30-24s on them. Will put updated pics once they are mounted this weekend.
POS VETT Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Why were the rear bumpstops a pain? To trim or to remove?
ericpdadof3 Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 You have to remove the brackets and then rebolt them to the frame. There is almost no way to get the bolts in the right place. 1
ericpdadof3 Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Here it is with the wheels on. Wish I had a little more tire, but it rides great. 2
Danny_Sierra Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Here it is with the wheels on. Wish I had a little more tire, but it rides great. clean drop bro. Is it even? Or leveled should I say.
ericpdadof3 Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 There is a little bit of rake towards the front. Maybe 1/2 inch difference.
Danny_Sierra Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 There is a little bit of rake towards the front. Maybe 1/2 inch difference.cool cool. we have the Exact same kit. I recently took off the shock extenders and put on drop shocks from belltech
Danny_Sierra Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 I have a quick question. My truck is lowered 4/6 currently. it's got 2in drop spindles and 2in drop shocks in front. And rear flip kit with 6in lowered in the back with have 5-7in belltech drop shocks. the shocks have a maximum limit of 7in drop. I can only go 1 in lower in the back. Would 1in drop shackles work fine? Is there any way to go lower eventually? Later on I want 5/9 drop. And I know im going to have to notch it
Danny_Sierra Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Shorter shackle or lowering block. RT I guess I'll do the shackle
07Softail Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 I guess I'll do the shackle now that will be a shorter shackle and not a longer one because of the new shackle bracket that was installed during the flip kit. The shackle is now under the bracket instead of (stock) being on top. You could also do a leaf spring swap. RT
DirtyMarcus Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 So I got my Mcgaughys spindles in and plan to install them this week. Anyone know if I need any special socket or bit to remove the caliper or anything else? Do the front rotors come off easy or do they need a bolt to torque them off the hub?
