This is my friends truck that we plastidipped the grille surround and left the insert chrome. Looks pretty cool I think.

Do you have any more pictures of it? I'm thinking of doing the exact same thing to my LTZ grille. Bezels, surround but leaving the insert chrome.

Well I plasti dip'd my grille and bumpers this weekend. It came out awesome. I can't believe how easy the product is to use. I honesty tapped off more than I should have which in turn, made it harder on myself. Anyways some pictures all sad and done. I wanted to leave a little chrome so it offset with the black and copied the truck in the post above.

After reading through this thread I still wasn't sure if what I want to do can be done. I have a 2015 LTZ (silver ice) with the chrome honeycomb grille insert. I don't like the chrome and want to make just the honeycomb part a satin or somewhat low gloss black.
I'm convinced that with a helper I can get the inserts unclipped from the surround without removing the whole grill.
I'm just waiting for Michigan to warm up so the plastic isn't brittle.
Has anyone been able to do this?? Sorry to resurrect a old thread it's just bugging me Everytime I look at the truck. I would love the black Z71 grille but I can paint LTZ grille for a couple bucks. Hopefully it will hold up to stone chips. Thanks

The chrome inserts come right out, snap clips. I just had a hard time trying to trade with someone for black. To get it unsnapped u would need to remove the entire grill.

Anymore info on separating the chrome from the mesh ? I want to paint my chrome but would rather take the whole grille apart than have to tape the black mesh off. I’ve took the grille off but I can’t seem to take the chrome off, tabs are way too stiff

When I changed out my bow tie a couple months ago, the tabs it both the original and the new one were tight.  Just be persistent, gradually increase the release pressure on the tabs, they will let go.

I was able to take the bow tie off fairly easy but it’s the tabs on those 3 chrome parts that run horizontally across the grille that are a pain. Those tabs are different than those of the bow tie. They seem a lot stiffer
