HID Fog Light Problem

I've recently bought a hid kit from ddm tuning was happy to install and it looked great. Until I had smelled something a lil funny to come to find the bulb burning through the fog light housing..when I installed them they were on the tabs correctly I guess I hit a bump and it popped out...any of you have any suggestions to where I can get a new housing and how much..thanks

I used rubber butyl tape around the H16 fogs always. This prevents them from popping out...best of luck for you! Hope they were 35W.

Oh shit I cannot see...oh it just the hids...mostly seen on dodge trucks...dodge boys must drive with fogs on...really running lights, not fogs...but most call them fogs....Calls to mind an article in R&T or MT titled ' Turn off the Driving Lights Please'....

Does anyone really drive around in normal driving with the driving lights ( called fogs) on? Off road, ya I can see that...but mostly worthless...I drive dark back roads every night (that is why they are dark) and hids would only cause me to get flashed or cuss at the oncoming hids...

Yea, around here mostly thats all you see is people riding with their low beams and fog lights on. And I was one of those people now I'm out of a fog light, gotta find a replacement!

Wow! I've never actually seen a housing get cooked like that. Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

Two best sources will be eBay or an genuine GM parts dealer. I've used http://www.gmpartsonline.net/ with nothing but positive results. http://www.gmpartsdirect.com is another popular one. Unfortunately, I don't have any part numbers for you.

If you're now soured by HIDs, VLEDs 5202 bulbs are a decent replacement. Not nearly as bright but also very little hear given off. That said, your issue is really rare (first time I've ever seen it happen).

I do with my Trailblazer. However they are actual fog lights aimed correctly (most certainly not driving lights) so they don't bother anybody. On the highway they are helpful lighting up the sides of the road/ditches which aids in spotting deer. And of course they do work well in fog or heavy snowfall, but that's a pretty rare occasion that they're needed for that.

The factory "fogs" on most vehicles are of such poor quality I veiw them as mainly decorations for styling, not really adding any useful light.

You definitely don't have to remove bumpers. I haven't removed mine yet but looking at them it seems pretty simple. If you message BBowen826 I'm sure he could help you out with details... I know he took his fogs completely apart to install custom LED fog lights. Good luck!

They come out real easy. Don't even need tools. The lights are $115 from the dealer. I have the originals I removed from my truck. If interested send me a PM and we can work out a price and I can tell you how to remove them.

Wow! I ran with mine in for about 4 months used them every day for no less than 1 1/2 hrs and never had any sign of burns. I hear people say this happens but that's crazy!

Had them in the head lights and nothing but problems(I've read over all the threads) so I went back to stock bulbs on everything
