do the GM's or chevy have the feature to open the garage door? i never even saw it as an option. maybe only on the cars and SUV's. like no one parks their truck inside. my truck is loaded without that one feature. maybe onstar opens it for you... my buddy has an old impala that has it, yet my brand new truck does not,.

What year is your truck? On my 2011, it was included in the convenience package. That package also included the adjustable pedals, rear park assist and remote start. Perhaps another person can say if that was a standalone option without that package...

My '05 Suburban and '10 GMC truck both have it; it's called Homelink. My Cadillac does not. And what johnhankel said; it came as part of a convenience package on the burb and the truck, and a package I didn't get on the Caddy.

no, i don't. thanks for clearing that up. they put together some weird packages. they leave stuff out that should be there and add stuff that shouldn't. i guess thats how they trap you into buying every package so you're covered.

I think you can find that module/switch panel on eBay or in the For Sale section here. That said, IMO, it is not a great idea for trucks parked outside. On the three trucks I had/have with it, the Homelink had power all the time. Nothing like leaving easy access to your garage outside....

How does this get programed to work with existing garage door opener? On the house that we are buying and moving into soon the openers are older, how would they work with truck?

Read the manual, should be in there whether you have it as an option or not. Most generic garage doors of the last decade all use the same signal/frequency (whatever you want to call it) and the should have a little button on the garage door to program remotes and buttons. You hold the 2 garage door buttons on the truck and someone else pushes the one on the garage motor itself

My `09 has it without the rear park assist or adjustable pedals.

is the part 25807340? there was so much stuff online. i need the transmitter package i'm assuming.looks pretty easy to install. the console is already there.

You can also find modules to "retro-fit" Homelink onto an older Garage door opener system. It works in place of a contact closure, IIRC.

When I programmed mine, I held the button and the garag remote button at the same time with the garage door opener pointed at the home link. It will flash a bunch of times then all done.

+1 on this.
