Diode modification of rear led bed lights. Leds now come on with a push of the unlock button at night.

Tied them into the backup lights to make this work.

No more climbing in the truck to turn these on at night.

I did it old school.

Tapped into backup lights

Tied into the harness underneath the vehicle placing the diode in the circuit coming from the control relay up front. Taped diode to the top of the trailer hitch bracket

Fired it up and done. About 45 minutes to install. Wanted to get it right. Soldered, taped, and wrapped everything up nice.

Unintended benefit is that the reverse lights come on with the cargo light switch now. More light to help load things up at night.

So now since your reverse come on with cargo, do your cargo also come on when you put truck into reverse?

No,

The cargo light stays off unless I use the switch in the cab.

The way I wired it doesn't allow the current to back flow that far. Was afraid to try it without the diode. Didn't want to backfeed the system and blow something on this truck.

If I take the diode out then yes the cargo light would come on it theory.

You should try it and see if it helps while backing up!

How is the Airaid? Improving the performance or mileage at all?

I like it so far I only have 20 miles or so on it but it sounds really good. My butt dyno says it gave it a little boost. Gas mileage prolly went down a bit because I have kept my foot in a more than I have been. Im taking a road trip tmw so I will be able to see if it helps or not.

Fantasized about what I want to do to it today. Ive been sitting here reading this thread looking at all the mods. Here is a pic of when i picked her up in April. I left back to work overseas in May with 1500 miles on it sitting in my garage and an itch to scratch.

I plan on a Line-X renew over the crappy Rhino Liner the dealer installed. (I specified Line-X) I had Line-X in my 07 and it was like armor. The Rhino Lining started marring with a small load of firewood on a camping trip. Junk. Either that or pay to have it stripped and Done with regular Line-X. Other mods will be to replace the chrome handles and mirror cap with black plastic, remove the chrome belt molding, a 6.2 badge on the tailgate and remove the air dam.

Undecided on Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks for a 1" or 1.5" level, or sticking with the stock suspension setup. I will be replacing the junk Goodyears in either the stock 265/65r18 size or 285/65r18 BF Goodrich AT KO's. I want the snow rating on the tires living around Lake Tahoe. Was on the I-70 a snowstorm around Vail Colorado in my 07 with snow rated KO's and everyone was sliding off the road except me it seemed. I would go with 275/65r18 or 275/70r18 but they do not meet the snow rating. Also undecided on the Exhaust. I would love to go with a kit but leaning towards installing my own semi custom setup in my shop after clamping the flapper open a while to see what kind of drone it produces. The 6.2 is too quiet for the power it produces. A few more weeks and ill be home!

Well I bought a rough country 2" leveling kit, then I realized it was plastic and shitty, then I decided to be a bit different... So I made a 1.5" leveling kit out of aluminum, anodized and installed. Worked out great.
