Doesn't work on iPhone 5 on AT&T. Not surprised at all though since it seems GM is usually 3-4 years behind on thier audio\nav systems. Would be nice if or when they have an update for the system if it would work with Apple's iOS in the car that should be hitting this year. I read where the Spark will support it but from what I've read not even the tech support guys at GM tell if it will be addressed on the higher end vehicles.

You would think Customer Support would know to say " it's not available on the Sierra" instead of "it could work depending on which phone you have.."

 

Seems like it's not an option for us currently.

I know android does have it, it's probably the Bluetooth capabilities of the truck. My Pioneer MVH-8200BT would display when I had a message received with my old Samsung Galaxy S3.

I know Android has it too. I agree that the truck doesn't have the capabilities at this point...

Just spoke to the GM infotainment customer support team and they advised that text messaging as listed in the manual is not an option on the 2014 Silverado ( but it available on other GM models). They are not sure why it appears in the manual.....but it is definitely not available.....I asked if there were a software update I could get or purchase and they said no......WHY DOES IT SHOW UP AS AVAILABLE. THAT IS FALSE ADVERTISEMENT.

I have an issue with my texts coming through while using Pandora. Listening normally and a text comes through, click listen and hear the text. After the text cuts out and goes back to pandora the volume is at half volume.... Have to close down the app on my phone and restart it for volume to return to normal. Funky...

Think it depends on the phone I know iPhone users have issues I have a Samsung s5 and when paired to my truck (2015 all terrain) it works great when I get a message it pops up on my screen then it also pops up on the little screen in between the speedo. Give me the option to listen or view now you can only view from my experience when your moving very slow or parked as a saftey feature iv also been able to reply to texts and everything mine works great and I love the head unit in these trucks

I get texts through the intellilink but it has a built in feature to not show it on the display if the vehicle is moving. It will show up once you stop, and disappear if you start driving again.

 

Optionally the DIC gives you the ability to listen to the message via the intellilink voice.

 

There is a major flaw with this system. If someone texts you a pic or video and you listen to it, the system chokes for a minute then begins reciting random characters that presumably are data. You cannot stop it aside from activating voice commands and then cancelling. Poor implementation by GM.
