Bed Storage ideas with a Tonneau Cover?

Hey guys. I just ordered a Tonneau cover for my truck. I searched a lot of covers and for the money, this one seemed the best. Cost was $500. It's easy to install and remove, triple folding with aluminum underbody frame.

Here's my question. I know they make bed extenders as I have pictured below. I'm interested in the reverse effect of a bed extender. I need to enclose the last two or so feet of the bed. That way when the wife wants to hit up Target or Wal-mart, I can let the tailgate down, put the groceries under the Tonneau, shut the tailgate and the stuff will stay in place by the time I get home. I'm not interested in dropping $230 for a bed extender. Does anyone have any ideas for a reasonable way to confine groceries/ect. to the back portion of your bed?

Here is the Tonneau cover I bought tonight.

I have a cargo net in the back of each of my trucks.

Interesting I have been researching the same thing tonite for my truck. There is an item called the bed fence on Amazon but the extenders don't ratchet out which I prefer. Im thinking of getting 2 of the Harbor Freight bars mentioned above and making my own fence. I have a bed rug so the 2x6 isn't an option for me.

I have the cargo bars from Harbor Freight. Broke one once and they replaced with no questions.

As for the bed extenders, they do flip over into the bed to form a nice pocket area to put things in.

There are slots in the bed for 2x6s and such. Cut a 2x10 to the appropriate length and voila!

Perfect. Simple. Inexpensive. Removable.

Since I only have a spray in liner, this option should work perfectly. 2x10 at Lowes is $8. This was the solution I was looking for. The ratcheting bars was a good suguestion as well but I just think the groceries bags would find their way under/over the bars by the time I made it home. 2x10 is solid. That will work. Thanks.

I used my plastic recycle bins, but groceries in them, get home carrie the whole thing inside. I have a rug in back and they don't slide. Note: some store sell shopping boxes at checkout or check with your local trash hauler sometimes tell sell them .

Most of the bed extenders flip to form a cargo hold. Look up amp research brand, that is the one I'll probably get. In the meantime, on a budget, yeah piece of wood works fine.

Yeah, that's the brand I was looking at on ebay. Pictured above. Looks like a good one. They have an install video on Youtube. Obviously I'd love to have this extender but after dropping $55k last week for the truck, another $500 this week on the Tonneau hard cover, another $230 would prob push the wife over the edge. I'm looking forward to a quiet peaceful weekend. It's not that she fusses...she just likes to keep the spending even. So a $230 bedextender, really cost me $460. An $8 piece of 2x10 seems more manageable right now. Christmas is right around the corner...right?
