I'm plenty familiar with performance diesels (and to be clear I'm excluding the flatbillers who roll coal ) I just doubt this little diesel can do it as well as the HD diesels.

I'm willing to bet at least 500ft-lbs....if it can make that it will walk all over the hemi, they are heavy slow turds.

I'm a little familiar with performance diesel too ;) it's still a turbo'd common rail system, they'll be tuners who crack the ECM within a few months...

Now if you buy the diesel to do mods, and you do your own mods its pretty easy to make them run. I seen them in the 13s real easy. A daily driven 4x4 work truck in the tens, cant do that with a gasser to easy.

That's debatable, mine cost about 25 grand in parts to make a modest 650 RWHP on about 60-65 pounds of boost...you can make that kind of power with a gasser a lot cheaper...BUT it won't have 1200ft-lbs of torque, get 18 mpg and very reliable for towing...I can turn mine back to stock In the flick of a switch. Makes almost no black smoke, can tow like a dream and whoop ur buddies sports car...they have major potential it just costs big bucks. Dmax with a simple tuner and lift pump can get you high 13 second times...pretty darn good for 8000 truck and $600 mods

My brother just sold a 05 Ram he had since new, he did the banks kit, exhaust, different converter. In 06 I bought the trail blazer ss, went after him. He smoke me bad. He didn't spend a lot of money to run that good.

Tuners are already out there internationally: http://www.bluesparkautomotive.com/carspecs2?carid=6585

That said, this was a diesel originally designed to go into Euro market Cadiliac CTSs, I'm still skeptical that a car diesel will take big power long term. It's still a V6 in the end too.

No I'm talking custom tuning, h&s or sct or somebody American will crack the ECM you'll see mike

I have no doubt they will crack it, I just don't care. It's a little V6 diesel I have zero interest in owning. My only hope is this and Nissan and Toyota offering diesels may get GM to do so and then there will be a real diesel option available in a non-import truck.

You could be one of the lucky ones that bought the Ford 6.0
I don't believe I felt very lucky when I owned that gigantic piece of crap.

I guess the DEF fluids have to be filled up every 12,000 miles or recommended at 10,000 because the engine will not start. How much does it cost to fill up the DEF and where can you get it? This is noted in the Longhorn video.

Everyone sell your pos GM's and buy the 8 speed diesel Rams! That fruity reviewer from the first video just convinced me to go rouge. lol

I was looking up the cost for the DEF and it runs about $8.21 per gallon and up maybe less in bulk for about a 600/1,000 miles depending on vehicle. Just an additional expense which has to be added to make the truck run.

You can purchase DEF from many different locations including dealers, truck stops, fuel station convenience stores, fuel distributors, and auto parts stores.

What is DEF?

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is one of the key elements involved in the reduction of diesel engine emissions for vehicles equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems. It is a nontoxic solution of 67.5% De-ionized water and 32.5% automotive grade urea. DEF helps to convert NOx into nitrogen gas and water vapor. It is stable and colorless and meets accepted international standards for purity and composition under ISO 22241-1.
