Dealer work

After a trip to my local dealer ( Burien Chevrolet ) To find out what the nasty clunking noise was under my 2006 1500 4 wheel truck, mainly because I could not find it, and a local shop could not find it. Sooo, in a matter of 1 hour later they proclaimed it was my intermediate shaft. After the work was done, the only difference was that I was$350.00 lighter. Needless to say I was pissed! I told them to find it, and that they needed to compensate me in some manner for not doing what I asked. After about 4 hours lo and behold they were sure it was the driver side torsion cross member mount. After looking, you can see light around the rubber in the mount, so I feel confident that's the problem. The they told me with the $350.00 credit it would cost an additional $664.00! For a grand total of$931.00. Does anybody have any experience with this repair? Thanks!

I had one tear away....they did both sides for $325....they also cleaned my ABS Sensors for free while they had the truck on the rack (ABS was acting up). That was on my '06 Silverado a few years ago.

Thanks, its what I thought. The dealer is NOT giving me credit for the $350.00. Burien Chevrolet (Washington) are CROOKS!

I don't blame the dealer, taking an eight year old truck to them is asking to get robbed. You drove right in to the lions den.

Super easy diagnosis and repair. I paid ~$100 for the mounts and did both sides. Lots of grinding and then 4 bolts each side. To be honest though, if you won't crawl under in the first place and check it out, what do you expect? It took me about 30 seconds of grabbing stuff and pulling to find the issue. I'd suggest finding a reputable local shop in the future, dealer will take your money and run on an older truck.

Actually, I DO blame the dealer. They lied. The truck is 8 years old, but only 57 thousand miles. I have no place to work on it myself, but did buy the new mounts for $90.00 and found a shop that will replace them for $300.00

Good for you. Glad you didn't give them any more money. It sounds like they were taking you down that poke and hope road where they wind up replacing half your vehicle before finding what is wrong. If it was so easy to find as some of the other posts alluded, the trained GM techs should have figured it out the first time in the first couple minutes.
