Do the 2015 Tahoes, Yukons or Escalades have the updated lte based onstar? I would guess if the 2015 trucks are going to get it, these would have it as well.

Hopefully it makes it into the trucks... The underwhelming infotainment system in these trucks was a huge reason I decided not to buy one.... It's not a BAD system just wasn't have to have for me...

So now that Carplay is for sure out for the 2014-15 trucks. Anybody know what the price is for the upgrade? I'm interested if the price is right

So why do you think CarPlay is out for the 2014-2015 trucks? Everything I've read says it will not be available from GM. Only available option I've seen is through aftermarket like MVI. And they have too many options to post. You send them a text for whether you want Nav and CarPlay added and just recently added CarPlay only. Is that what you are referring to? If so, there is a whole thread on this alone.

Just ordered a CarPlay only kit for $685 shipped to upgrade my 2015 Silverado 1500 LT (with I05 non-nav and 8" mylink). I saw the other kits online for 1200 - 1500 bucks that always included the I06 navigation bundled with CarPlay. I am getting nav from Apple Maps (and hopefully Google Maps someday?) so why would I want factory nav too?

I should get the kit later this week so we will see how the install goes. All of the online videos are sped up for the actual install part and I think all I am getting from my seller is an exploded GM parts diagram. But, it should all be plug-n-play so not too worried.

I would love to hear about this $685 kit. I spent about $150 to make a getho solution with a Galaxy Tab A with magnets that "snaps" in front of the radio and via Bluetooth runs the show. Gets wifi data from the phone. Functional as factory should be and I just pull it off to see the backup camera

My new truck has Apple CarPlay. Works perfectly. Was one of the reasons I traded up.

Me too?

Sorry for the delay. I did not want to share info if the kit did not work or the seller was a pain.

With that said, I ordered from Greg (see the GM OEM Nav section) here: http://cpsmobileelectronics.com/

I just got through installing the kit and it works flawlessly! Spotify will keep playing while you get nav from Apple Maps. Siri functions work like you would expect such as "guide me to [address]" "send a text to [person]" etc.

The kit includes the radio module (you will get a new XM radio ID) which is behind the touchscreen, the HMI module behind the dash, and a replacement for the dual usb/aux/SD card port. With the replacement module you LOSE the aux and SD card input. I am a little sad about that even though I had thought they were a waste of technology when I saw them the first time! :) The kit also had a small plastic trim pry tool which was unexpected and very helpful.

Installation notes:

1. it is all plug and play - no new wires

2. that makes it sound easier than it is

3. the center connectors on the HMI module were a bitch to unhook - release tabs on TOP where you can barely access them

4. removing the radio dash trim was scary as hell - totally thought I was going to break the thin horizontal bar at bottom but I pulled it off (<< pun!)

5. replacing the usb ports in the 40/20/40 sucked real bad

5a. there are two wire harnesses and the release tabs are upside down so you can't reach them (like the HMI module but way worse) - I used an allen wrench to blindly press up underneath until I could free the tab while tugging the harness [more cussing than the dad in A Christmas Story during this portion of the install]

5b. I had to pull some slack into the factory wires because the mounting is upside down on the new usb module - BUT, this means the tabs are right side up for releasing if you ever take it apart again

Instructions from seller were near useless- just a few pics printed out at 2x3 inches. Nothing on install of usb connector at all. But, in the end, got it all to work. If you are not mechanically inclined you should definitely take it to a stereo installer.

Let me know if you have any questions and I will help the best I can!

Does your steering wheel "talk" button work for calling up Siri? I just did this upgrade through MVI and While CarPlay is running and phone plugged in, when I hold down the "talk" button it doesn't call up Siri. It gives me some error about no phone connected or something.

This button only works for me through Bluetooth when I don't have the cable plugged in or have CarPlay running.

According to Chevy's FAQ's on CarPlay the steering controls work for calling Siri. Maybe it's just a byproduct from upgrading my 15. Not a deal breaker but a little annoying.
