Trucks have too many options

When I buy a car for my wife the decisions are color, leather or cloth, power lift gate, back up camera. Not too bad.

When I am picking a truck: color, interior (need a 6 seater), engine, gear ratio, towing, bed size, cab size, tire size, and then the small stuff like trailer brake and heated seats.

So I finally decide:

Ruby, Brown, or Tungsten

Crew Cab

Black interior (leather is ok but not a priority)

5.3L

3.42

Heated seats

Bench seat

All Star

LT Convienence

Z71 is fine but not needed

18 or bigger shoes

My local dealer has nothing close. They do not even have any crew cabs.

They do a search and find 3 in their trade group. It has been 2 weeks and they have not been able to work out a trade on any of them. Tomorrow is my last day I can do it this month.

3.73 gears are exclusive to the max tow package and that won't allow the Z71 option so it's either or there. It does have 18" wheels though. The rest is pretty standard stuff but the max tow package is and has been very scarce due to supplier constraints. As for it being end of month, I wouldn't worry too much. GM is losing market share so the incentives will likely get better.

You can custom order but remember that there is a constraint on the max tow package that is needed for the 3.73 gearing.

In that case I'm honestly a bit shocked you can't find a truck like that.

Try a different dealer. Some don't play nice with others and therefore don't get many trades in return. Also, sometimes the GM build your own website actually does a decent job of finding trucks your dealer can't get as another option.

I was thinking the same thing.... Pretty basic stuff

Where you from OP? And did you check out a GMC?

The list is pretty easy to fill, but there will be other options on the trucks you'll find on the lots. So you'll have to be flexible on having some additional things. A trailer tow package is pretty much ordered on all trucks by the dealers. I can't recall seeing a truck on the lots without a hitch.

I am in SE PA. I don't mind some extras but that is my must have list. Crew cabs seem light around here. Search online at about 6 dealers today. One dealer mainly only has bucket seats, another only 3.08 or V6. A couple of dealers had stuff labeled "in transit" so maybe they thinned their inventory in Feb and are filling back up.

shop till ya drop..........study and look on line at every dealer in the country....get on a plane if necessary and drive your new ride home.

gm should have options ala carte....not this you gotta buy this to get that.

This.

Weather you have a good dealer relationship or not it pays to shop around. I checked 2 or 3 local dealers and none of them had what I was looking for and was not willing to trade to get my business so I drove 2 hours, talked to a sales girl and within 48 hours they not only found me a truck but it was already on the lot ready for me to purchase.

If you were a little closer to central/western PA I would hook you up with my sales girl and I would imagine she would find you what you are looking for or at least do what she could.

Did you try Armen in Ardmore? Reputable dealer and always had excellent service there. Not a huge selection-and tough on price sometimes, but worth a shot.

They have 2 trucks on their lot. A WT and a double cab. At this point I am using google maps to find dealers and checking their inventory. It is going to be a long day...

Where are you located and what are you looking for? Granite run in media has a decent selection of trucks, there's faulkner in west chester, they have a decent selection too.. GMC's though
