Came across this and thought some of you would like to know...and just a reminder that you can find build date on the drivers door sill label or your window sticker...

PI1127: Information on Elimination of Vehicle Nameplate Badges - (Dec 5, 2013)

Subject: Information on Elimination of Vehicle

Nameplate Badges

Models: 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (Texas Edition - RPO TUF and

High Country Edition - RPO GAJ only) 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 (All Terrain Edition - RPO GATonly)

Condition/Concern

Some customers or dealers may comment that the “Silverado” or “Sierra”
nameplate badge is missing from the side doors of the vehicles on the Texas,
High Country and All Terrain Editions.

Recently a change was made for the Texas/High Country (Chevrolet) and All
Terrain Edition (GMC) trucks that removed the Silverado/Sierra nameplate badges
from the side doors. The change was intended to give a cleaner, less congested
branding appearance and was communicated through a Marketing Administrative
message.

Plant Change Dates

Fort Wayne Built Trucks (VIN Z) – After VIN EZ163318 on October 3, 2013

Silao Mexico (VIN G) – After EG258922 on October 7, 2013

Pffff....Keep the Sierra/Silverado emblems and ditch those ginormous Texas Edition and High Country badges. At least the All Terrain is of moderate size.

It is still a silverado High Country or a Sierra All Terrain. They are just reducing clutter in the doors

Posted

They can leave all of them off if they want except for the tailgate which some would disapprove of that.

Posted

As soon as the factory removes them and they arent an option people will want them.

Posted

I don't want them so I cut them off.

They suck to clean, I know that. The car washes never seem to clean in between the letters and on a white truck, its hard not to notice.

My Texas Edition Sierra has a build date of 10/13. It does not have the sierra badging on the door but does has the Texas Edition bading on the doors. My next door neighbors Texas Edition Sierra has a build date of 07/13 and his has both the Sierra and Texas Edition badging. Mine looks cleaner than his does IMO.

I agree with you. Saw a Silverado TX Edition at the dealer and it does look cleaner. Thinking now of taking my Silverado badging off of the doors...

His truck is built in the future?

Yep! They nailed it with that decision. It looks better due to being less jumbled.

I don't get paid by the manufacturer and the dealers to advertise for them, so I remove everything after I get the vehicle, or make them remove it all before I take delivery.

I can see it already. I paid $50,000 for my truck and it does not even have the Silverado emblems on the doors.

Do you really want the High Country/Denali/All Terrain emblem and the Silverado/Sierra badge? That would look crowded.
