Went to local Lubbock Cars and Coffee that's on the first Saturday of every month. This time it was benefiting Make A Wish Foundation. Took some pics and got my cobra ready for it and threw a video together.

Mounted my new Nitto555s on the cobra. 315/35/17s REAR and 275/40/17s FRONT. Next will be inspection, registration, and front end alignment.

AMC's rarest muscle car was faster than any Corvette

My bestie in high school owned one and I got to ride in it every Saturday night. What a rocket.

It's stable mate in his collection was a 66 Impala SS.

I had a 1970 Javelin MDS SST 390 4 speed with the go pack. It was a bullet for its time. A guy a work with a 72 GTX called it a rambler. After a chance meeting at a traffic light. He said no more. It was during my stupid time when I traded often. I traded it for a 67 California special Mustang.

Just cruising around this holiday weekend. Been working on her every spare minute for the past two months. Still lots to do but sometimes you gotta stop and smell some flowers!

Old school guys will appreciate the rock crusher whining away. Such a nostalgic sound.

Purists may disagree but I like to think I hit a good blend of modern and retro with this car and did it my way.

Thing is gorgeous! Definitely been a LONG time since I've heard that sound!

I wouldn't call myself a purist, since I'll throw Wilwoods and power adders on anything. For me, that engine makes me cringe as a former shop owner remembering all I've been through with some of them. Plus I hate LS engines for their oiling system (MANY places to lose pressure from, especially on the AFM ones which I wouldn't be caught dead with), and the dowel-less front and rear covers - an engineering decision that irks me to no end! And I despise electronics with every fiber of my being.

My main reason for avoiding modern electronics is that when they fail, they typically leave you stranded. Tied for 1st place is also the fact that sometimes troubleshooting super-annoying problems can suck the life right out of you. I've wasted so many hours of my life chasing gremlins on those in all kinds of vehicles. I find carburetors and simple HEI style components much more suitable for keeping my sanity, lol. Different strokes for different folks. I probably get more hate from the younger crowd for sticking with my old school ways of thinking than you would for doing an LS swap.

When everything's working, they're certainly a ton of fun!
