Switch at Tailgate for Cargo Light

Where it the how to for this mod? I'd be more interested in this than running a switch.

This is super easy.

Tap into the positive rear backup light and run a line from that to the positive input of your lighting harness for the LEDs. Now anytime you hit the fob at night the LEDS will come on in the bed.

One cool thing that I like is now the reverse lights come on when you hit the Bed light switch. A great mod when loading things in the back at night. You have a work light now at the rear at the truck.

I set my light delay for the longest interval so I get out at night close the doors and have time to get whatever I need out of the back without fiddiling with stuff.

I tried this mod today but couldn't get it to work. I just tapped into the listed holes on the bcm with short wires to see if it would work before running all the wires. Does it take a special switch? The one I am using has three posts, one power, one load, and a ground. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance!

Forget the BCM. Go straight to the wires in the back of the truck.

I’m really interested with this mod. I know I’m very late but I’m a new owner of 2014 Sierra. So only ONE wire from the positive reverse to the positive LED light harness? Is that it? How can I tell which is the positive wire for both reverse and LED harness? My truck came with the LED on the bed which is Good that I don’t have to do that mod. Thanks!

I wonder what happens if you turn on the lights with the bed lights switch and then put the truck in reverse or unlock it (powering the reverse lights)?

All the lights come on. That's what happens. I like it that way.
