Should I buy one?

Before tax and license and not counting trade. There were some great incentives in August, plus I'm military. SLE had bigger discount than SLE and double cab had bigger discount than crew cab.

Very nice truck.......just wait, you'll thank us all later for helping you choose once you get a few miles on it. Every time I drive mine, I'm more impressed with the vehicle. GM did their homework on the 2014's for sure.

Congrats on getting one! I know I'm loving mine. Only 1300 clicks so far, only thing I don't like is the chip I got in the hood this week.

Couple questions:

Want to level this thing. Was thinking the RC 2". Seems like a good level kit. I dont want to void my warranty or kill my gas mileage. Pros/Cons? Also, do I need to upgrade my tires? If so, what would be some good options. Nothing too huge or aggressive or loud. Just some good All terrains that will give it a good overall appearance and decent off road capabilities (ie getting to tree stand).

for what its worth you "might" get away with it if the service dept knows you and is your friend or just a nice guy who wants to be nice and help you but if you change the truck by lowering or lifting it, then the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty is null and void (transmission, rear end, drive shaft, and engine even), same goes for tire sizes even, if your transmission goes out and you raised or lowered the truck or they find you have a different size tire or rims and tires then stock, then your warranty is null and void.

just be advised you are relying on the good will of the service dept to hide any changes you made from GM and I promise you, if you need a new transmission or something involving major $$$ they wont be able to or even willing to cover up the changes you made and you will be told you have no warranty and you are SOL, pay for it yourself

if you want to go that route do as others have said about setting it up like you like it then go get a professional tune for it and I read you can get the aftermarket 100,000 mile warranty they offer that replaces the factory warranty you will void by doing it.

I put on the Ready Lift 1.5" front level kit. It also comes with a second .75" spacer that gives you the option of 2.25". Black Jack Truck Accessories did mine for $130. Then checked alignment and showed me the numbers, still perfect, no alignment necessary.

Rides perfect, just like stock ride height. No difference in fuel economy for me... city, 17.2, highway, 22.9. (I drive like an old grandpa. Wait..... I am an old grandpa!)

Can't speak about aftermarket tires... mine are the factory Bridgestone Dueller 285-45-22's and they are great... rides like a Cadillac at any speed.

Alright so I checked with the dealership and I dont know if this is the same for all other dealerships, but doing the 2" RC leveling only voids the warranty on the struts, since thats the only component directly affected by the mod. Nothing else is voided. Sounds good to me.

way too many defects in these chevy and gmc trucks right now

buy a 2012 with low miles, they are still good trucks but issues started with the 2013's and went of the deep end with the 2014's and the 2015's will have all the same issues as the 2014's have

Not one single issue with my '13. That statement is false. The issues are with the first of the '14's. When a design is changed, GM always has had teething problems with them.

I'd have to agree.. I don't know where he got that information that somehow the 13's are bad?

I never said all 13's were bad, all I said was people first started having trouble with large numbers of silverados with the 13's because they had rust problems so before you start making blanket statements you should look into what really is true or not and it cannot be denied the 13's had serious rust issues with many trucks, nothing mechanical at all, just rust issues with massive rust problems due to IMO poor paint prep for application of the frame coating

try doing a little research on 2013 Silverado rust issues, its there if you look

ok yes, I thought you were talking about the RC drop shackles not the front strut kit.

the struts don't change the driveline at all so it makes sense that it doesn't effect the warranty but the rear drop shackles will

Just got my 14 back from the body shop ($7000 damage after rear-ended by a lifted Hummer H2). Entire bed was replaced, but thanks the Hummer's lift kit there was not even the tinniest fraction of a nanometer of frame damage (frame wasn't touched).

Truck looks and rides like new.

It was exactly 2-weeks old when it was hit (already had 2300 miles on it), and not its up to 3600 miles, with 600 of them yesterday and today. FANTASTIC, smooth and quiet ride, excellent handling, plenty of power and no issues with any of the things people seem to complain about. Mine was made in November 2013 and is a 4X4 SLE DoubleCab with the All-Terrain package. Lights are more than adequate, FM reception is fine, no rust, no vibration. Even got 23 MPG at 75 MPH today over 300 miles with occasional blasts to 85MPH, 20 MPG yesterday at 80 MPH with occasional blasts up to 85 MPH.

Got only 5k miles on mine... Never thought of owning a GMC but got a great deal too. Love the truck and expect to drive it and pass it to my first child in 16 years lol.. Good luck

No way I'll keep mine that long. I drive about 40 to 50 K miles per year, so I'm looking at three or four years max, then I'll buy whatever is the best 4X4 truck of 2018 or thereabouts.
