Love my Ram.

You dirty dog. Just kidding, lol

Edit: see they have pulled you into the fold, it's not a Dodge Ram, it's a Ram. Ram Truck is trying to escape from that bad Dogde juju or whatever it's called.

I told my co-workers, if I ever drive to work in a new Dodge Ram take me out back and shoot me, well now I think I might have to take a bullet in the leg or somewhere not so lethal in the near future.

I just told my brother about the roller rocker thing, he says the Hemi has that and a cam problem, he drives a 10 ram.

Maybe if the dealer feels like crap for treating you the way they did, you can convince them to do the Comp Cams Trunion upgrade if that is the problem: http://tech.corvettecentral.com/2012/04/retro-ls-build-rocker-arm-upgrade/

The truck is top dog. No where near the old Dodge. Yes the truck has done very well since it separated from dodge. Ram is like second place in sales in Canada. All I see now are Ram's. It's a sweet rig. People need to take one for a boot. I like the outdoorsman for the heavy duty suspension but still smooth as silk.

Odd! As the Hemi is a very heavy duty motor. Overall these hemis are solid motor.

They all have problems, there were timing chain troubles with the hemi in the car too, was blamed on the v8 to v4 transition. My diehard dodge loving little brothers wife challenger with 40k miles failed. The dodge dealer in Dallas where it failed on the hwy said there has been more than a few failed. He has a 79 little red express truck he bought new that he races. He is dodge all the way. Ever here about the plug spitting problem on the first batch of 4.6 fords ? That problem went on for a few years, you can even buy repair kits for those at auto part stores. I could go on, this stuff doesn't get advertised.

AFM in general is a gimmick and I think it just add's more possible breaking points to a motor. These automotive manufacturers should figure out other ways to save fuel in a pickup other than making the motor more complicated to shut down cylinders. Ford has the right idea, yea not everyone may agree with it.

True but I would never want to own a boosted v6. I would hate to pay for repairs on blown turbos. Until I see half a million miles or something close to issues. I don't agree with the angle Ford is taking. Tundra has it correct. But the latest 14 Hemi I am happy with. I never notice mdf.

Not saying it every truck needs a turbo v6. But there are other ways. Make the damn trucks lighter! 8 speed transmissions. better aero. better tuning. etc.

Yeah, too bad it's small and gutless. It would make for a nice commuter though. The Hemi has some balls, but still can't hang with the 6.2.

The Ecoboost is the wrong direction for trucks IMHO as gas engines under boost drink gas like there's no tomorrow, even if it is a little V6 with less power and torque it still gets worse mileage when being worked.

I think the upcoming 5.0 Cummins might turn out to be as good as it gets for a 1/2 ton engine. But until some real life results are known for it, I see nothing better than GM's 6.2.

Wow, this thread got off subject.....

I want to get back to this.

Is there a specific SN range, mnf date, or other way to determine which engines this applies to or is it for the entire new Ecotec engine family?

Anyone know for sure?

Update....

Truck was taken back to the shop yesterday a little after noon. I did get a rental car for the time being so atleast I have wheels now.

Got a call right at service closing hours from the service manager. In his words the problem is deeper than the tech originally thought. He hadn't talked to the shop foreman at the end of the day to see what exactly was done but it sounds like its not just a lifter issue. Just exactly what I want to hear! I tried to get more information from him but he really didn't know much other than it's not as simple as they thought. I asked at what point do I get a new engine from GM? He said it would probably take a lot for GM to throw an entire motor at the problem. I told him I understand that but understand this is a damn near brand new truck, and a nice one at that, and this whole situation has been a cluster @#$^. He agreed and even made the comment that he could tell the truck was well taken care of. Told me he would keep me informed and updated on progress.

So that's where it sits right now. I really hope this thing gets fixed and fixed right without much more drama. It really has taken the new truck glow and thrown it in the trash. This was only my 2nd new vehicle purchase ever (I am touching 40) and now really questioning giving GM my money. Rant over....
