I got the last of my paperwork today, and sat down with my good friend "TurboTax" and filed my Federal and State taxes tonight.  I probably had a little over an hour in it... not too bad!!!  I'm glad I set up the network between my computers because all my old info was on the other system, but I was able to grab it with out any problems and it saved alot of keystrokes.

10-16 days and the money should be sitting in my checking account!!!  :D  :D  :)    :)  :)  :D

I called the accountant and told him to just go ahead and file for an extension becasue there is no way we can get everything together and to him by April 15.  We do it every year I like uncle sams early christmas present we always get something back so  its not to bad I do hate waiting but some of ours takes so long to get ready.

Mine are done now, thanks to this topic.  They were all done earlier this week except for me getting them sent off.  But that is done now.  I was quite pleased with my return this year, alot more then I usually get back.  Hopefully I can find something good to spend it on.  lol

I should've received the last of my paperwork this week, so when I go home tomorrow for the weekend I'll do it all and I'll be done, and waiting for my check.

I am still "formulating my strategy".

Example:

1.  I use my home laptop to post here at GMTC.

2.  Sometimes I dont have enough time to post at home so I have to post at work.

3.  My wife may start her own business in the next year or two and we will probably use the laptop for business purposes.

4.  So, since I am forced to use my companys computer to post at GMTC instead of my laptop which may or may not be used in the future for home business purposes I can amortize the cost of of my companys computer even though I didnt pay for it.

Most people arent as knowledgable about the tax laws and  miss these kind of deductions.  Not me.  I'm up to speed.

I finished mine up 13 days ago.  Thank you TurboTax!!  Makes everything very quick and easy.  Talked to the IRS yesterday, should be getting my refund in my bank account tomorrow.

so how often do you get audited newbie?

Mine are just about done, just waiting for a letter from the college on my tuition expenses so I can claim those and get some $$$ back.

But, the real question is, what are you going to do w/ your refund?

Can't do mine yet, haven't received all the income reports yet.  I'm going to have to do them the 1st of March since I'll be on vacation during Feb.  Don't look forward to them, a lot of paper work and records this year.

Another example:

Westin Nerfs?  Deductible.  How?

Lets say theres a huge natural disaster.  In New York. Now you KNOW that they just wont have enough vehicles to evacuate all of the elderly and handicapped people, right?  Who are they going to call?

Me.

I put the Westin Nerfs on specifically to help these people to get in my truck. Deductible.

I'm not sure I understand what you said.  Due to potential business use of your home labtop by your wife you will have to post on  here (personal business) using your employers computer and you can amortize the cost they paid for it on your taxes because  you use their computer during  work to do your personal business during company time?

Is that what you meant?  Just wondering where in the tax code it says you can do this as I would be interested in this.
