I routed mine under my hood on both of mine but used the small round grommet from bed to cover hole. Just be careful not to pull wire from antenna. ...free mod and about same reception.

Can you elaborate on how you did this? I have the craven speed stubby and while it looks great, the reception is poor.

Just a side note guys, remember that YMMV in these things. The FCC states in the case of radio reception, "you get what you get and you don't throw a fit." So there's a lot of room for error here, even with OEM antenna. And nothing you can do about it, other than a bigger antenna...

Also keep in mind that antennas are crafted to a specific length of wire, and that's what allows them to "tune" in specific wave lengths. Old CB radio guys and shortwave guys might know what I mean, as we used to have to "cut" antennas sometimes to get better reception on certain channels. These stubby antennas might not have the correct length of wire in them, that's why the twist is there on some of the shorter versions, to get the right length of wire. So be sure to have a good return purchase ability with you who buy them from.

I will take pics tonight, but it was fairly easy.

1) Unscrew antenna

2) pop off plastic cover

3) unbolt 3 small bolts holding antenna on

4) find antenna wire and pop off grey wire retainer from truck (be careful not to pull out antenna wire from antenna base)

5) route antenna base near fender

6) Take small round grommet from bed and place in hole of plastic cover

7) Re-attach antenna, place bolts into 3 holes, attach plastic cover

8) zip tie antenna to inner fender (I will take pics to show how I routed)

and can always put back to OEM if reception does change, but I haven't noticed any.

Thanks! I'll give this a try...if I can remember what I did with my stock antenna.

Below: You can do this with pretty much any late model and classic GM truck. On some, the Tahoe/Yukon has a cover with no hole so no grommet required.

removed mine, bought aftermarket 13 inch offroad rubber antenna, looked good but once i got up in mph it went back from the wind and i did not like that.. after a long drive it took forever to warp back into a straight position so i removed completely and was able to find a little rubber cap to go over the antenna hole to more a less make it appear shaved.. i use satellite radio/mp3,cds anyways so i never use the regular radio. overall i like the end look result.. better than having the hole open..

AntennaX 10" from Amazon. Had the stubby antenna from craven speed. Terrible reception and I live in the city. This one picks up signal and full HD all day long. Does bend a little at highway speeds, but stands right back up when not under wind pressure.

I wanted to get rid of it but now realize it's a assurance thing in parking garages and such. I use it as a indicator. I'm leaving it... I like the plastic plug and laying it up in the fender idea. slick.

I have the stubby 5" didn't see a change in reception at all, I don't do much radio listening though anyway.

I actually ordered the wrong one (for the 07-13 silverados) contacted the company and they sent me the adapter for my '15 for free

After reading this I decided to remove/relocate my antenna as well. I hardly ever listen to FM so wasn't concerned about losing some reception. So, did as EXSlider400, but routed the antenna under/behind the front plenum istead of along the fender.
