Choosing between two trucks

The 6.2 doesn't get much worse than a 5.3 in real world driving. If someone is buying a +$40,000 vehicle gas mileage shouldn't be much of a concern.

To me a 6.2 is a waste of money mileage sucks and if you tow its worse go with the 5.3 you won't regret it for what your doing

Of course you never hear that opinion from somebody who actually has a 6.2.....

It just pisses me off that you have to jump thru hoops to get the 6.2. Then to add insult to it you can put E85 in the 5.3 and 6.2 is only 40 more HP. The only gas for the 6.2 is premium. When I bought my truck it was 15K more to get in a 6.2, it wasn't 15K more of a truck. The only reason I didn't buy a Ram Hemi is the interior in my GMC was better than the ram at that time. In 2011 I bought a Ram single cab work truck it had the hemi, GM better wake up.

it sonly 15k more because you bought on the lot and didn't order. my 6.2 cost around 2k more. i also ran 87 octane in it for 5k miles, however now that it's tuned i won't.

His point is that you cannot get a 6.2L with a LT/SLE package. You have to get the LTZ/SLT, then pay the $2000 option to upgrade the motor. Which is now a $2500 option that includes the 8 speed.

My hard loaded Texas Package truck was 32K OTD, I would have paid 2K for the 6.2 you cant. The dealer were I bought my truck had a ton of trucks last Dec. and a few with the 6.2 starting at 12K more out the door. It cant be a fuel mileage problem the 6.2s do pretty good on gas.

My 2014 6.2l does better on gas than my 2010 5.3l did, hands down.

2010 5.3 and 2014 5.3 are completely different.

I think you will be okay with the 5.3L. If you say it's for mostly being an people hauler and a grocery go getter then you should be okay. I have a 2006 Silverado with a 4.8L and am content with it. As long as your happy that's what matters most. Have fun with your new truck.
