It's in the shop now. The transfer case recall had already been addressed. They were unable to reproduce but did make note of the service bulletin and will be addressing the issue that way.

Should get it back today or tomorrow. In the meantime I've been downgraded to some Buick crossover vehicle with too many buttons.

That is the thing I dont get about GM Services, they schedule in, but theey dont really have a hourly schedule. Regardless of the booking, you get your truck worked on based on first come first serve for the day's booking, unfinished work from yesterday comes first too.

too bad you have to wait

There is always been that "chevy roll" after putting it in park but nothing over 6". I havent used a parking brake in 20 years. Who uses those?

I have with every vehicle/truck I've ever had. First one was a manual trans so I would set the brake and also make sure it was in a gear. My last truck and current one even thought being auto I still use the brake. Setting the brake after putting it in part but before letting your foot off the brake well help keep stress off the trans. I don't exactly like if I go to leave after it's been parked and rolled and it makes that awful clanking noise and hard shift from park to drive. I don't set it in parking lots since those are level (unless I know it will be parked for a long time), but anywhere else I set it. Even at my house since I park on the street and it's on a slight hill. I don't even think about it anymore, it's second nature so no big deal. I figure doing something that only takes a second to engage and another second to disengage that will help keep stress off the trans is only helping it. If there was no need for a parking brake on an auto then they wouldn't put them on there anymore, especially when trying to save weight for mpg.

Crooks, I always use parking brake. If you've ever had one rust up and get stuck from non use, ye'd use it too. Ye don't use it, ye lose it.

Strange, my above post was repeated. Anyway, yep, better to use ye brake. Keeps it working properly, plus takes stress off'n ye transmission.

I do, since my last car was a manual, but having seen what constitutes as a "parking pawl" in some automatic transmissions, I've vowed to continue the practice going forward. It's cheap and effortless insurance...

If you're going to use the parking brake, apply it with the transmission in neutral, then let off the service brake so the park brake is holding the vehicle, then reapply the service brake and put the transmission in park.

I haven't used a parking brake (with an automatic transmission) in years (unless I was on a hill) with my cars or trucks.

Many years ago I once had the emergency brake freeze one winter and couldn't use the truck until it released. Since than I haven't used the emergency brake too much.

I bet that you guys as responsible drivers and/or car owners do everything to prevent your car from rolling away.

Like chocking the wheels, turning the front wheels toward a curb etc.

If not you guys are taking unnecessary chances to damage your car and/or others property or even health/life.

so long

Yep, as prescribed by the owner's manual. Remember when folks actually read those? I think the use rate might be lower than parking brakes... ;-)

I was raised to use a parking brake everywhere and it is my second nature now. Never had my sierra rolled away but still got the recall programmed

Yup, correct technique has been the same since they started making automatic transmissions.

If you test drive a car at the dealership many of the cars don't have the parking brake on in their parking lots. I just saying I feel a lot of people don't used the parking brake especially when they are on a flat surface.

Had my truck serviced at the dealership about a week ago. Got into the truck and the emergency brake was not on after the service guy completed the work.
