You must drive a double cab Brian no?

Yep, my last four Silverados (2002, 2006, 2010, 2014) all Xcabs, all made in Indiana I believe. American built by an American company.

Did you try posting on the UAW forum to see if they share your view on Siennas and Tacos being "better for the American workers", or whether they prefer my position on the matter?

I just did a search on carsoup, looked like similar numbers of 4wd and 2wd 1500s for sale in the USA, at least if I did the search right. If that's the case, and the 3.08 gears are standard issue on 5.3s, and 4.3s are selling 20% now, apparently over half of America is OK with a full size truck with towing between 6500 and 7600lbs.

Like you say, they wouldn't be building them that way if it "wasn't what the people demanded".

You're apparently not one to talk about cherry picking specs Colorado Steve:

Colorado Crew Cab Silverado Double Cab

Bed Length 74".............78.87"

Bed Width 44".............51"

Front Head 41.4"..........42.8"

Front Hip 55".............60.73"

Front Leg 45"..............45.27"

Front Shoulder 57.5"...........65.93"

I see what you mean Steve, a Colorado crew cab is.......errrr.......a mid size truck and much smaller than a full size truck. I guess I don't see what you mean at all, because you don't make sense, yet again.

Steve, I know you're pretty happy with your Mexican made Silverado crew cab, and that you're pretty pumped you finally bought a full size truck a year ago. I realize you're saving up for a camper, and want to "be prepared".

You need to realize that the 2014 was the sixth straight American built full size truck I've purchased: four Silverado Xcabs, a F250, and a Ram. And I was driving full size trucks at various points in the past, all the way back to the 1970s.

I've also been towing boats and trailers since the 1970s. I'm in my early 50's bud. I don't "save up" for anything. If I were to decide I preferred going camping to going to my lake cabin and renting lake cabins, I'd buy a camper and a bigger truck if this one couldn't pull it.

My 2002 Silverado had 285hp/325 torque, and I was very happy with it. Do you REALLY think I notice the difference between that and the 285hp/305 torque I have now? That the 20lbs torque is the deal breaker?

If so, I think you must have picked up some of the local mountain exports while you were in Iraq and are hitting them hard these days.

You're going to need to accept that people may not want a mid size truck, and are capable of making their own decisions chief.

You

sorry but I have to chime in here and just say your sounding more and more like a d*ck with each post.

I feel better. Carry on.

I came across some reviews on Edmunds, Fast Lane Truck, Motor Trend on the Colorado.....they're everywhere. Some of the comments made about the Colorado are:

It's the perfect truck for someone who doesn't need to tow more than 7,000 lbs.

If you don't need the power or capability of a V8, it makes perfect sense

If you don't need the gargantuan size of a Crew Cab full size, the Colorado is perfect

A similarly equipped Colorado can be had foe several thousand less than a similarly equipped Silverado.

At the end of the day, it matters not what you're driving or if you like a midsize truck. I just find it funny that the arguments above are the same ones you were making to those of use who chose a V8 over the V6 on our trucks that don't tow, haul, use or truck to go to the mall, never go off road....etc. I just find it strange that you can make a passionate argument for weeks in this thread, insulting several of us and our decisions and yet when presented with counterpoints to your arguments which play very well into the argument of "Why not a midsize?" you can only come back with nonsensical, personal attacks at our reasoning and rhetorical garbage. It's ignorant at best. I'm not trying to convince you to sell your truck and get a midsize, that would be highly hypocritical of me, I'm trying to get you to see and acknowledge another point of view, which you cant; highlighted that your old way of thinking that you would "never buy an import" shows a narrow POV, worse than those of use who will never buy a V6 in a fullsize. I just find that strange coming from someone show claims to be a truck expert....that's all.

I've learned there is no way to make a rational point with you. You've twisted words and convoluted the discussion in many forms instead of accepting the point that we who bought a V8 did so out of want, some need.... just like you bought your full size truck with midsize capability.....because it's what you wanted and it fit your needs.....some of us just don't want a V6 in a full size just like you will never drive a midsize or an import. Who cares about what a 3.08 V8 tows, who cares what a 5.7 had 15 years ago, who cares that you make enough money to buy a new truck and a boat every other year....who cares about Farmers in the Midwest, who cares about the UAW. I surely don't....becasue it matters very little as to why "I" bought my truck and why "I" enjoy it. This has been fun, entertaining and educating. Enjoy your truck Brian....I hope it gives you 3 years of trouble free service.

More succinctly:

I find your casual disrespect for American auto workers and farmers, combined with your assumptions that people who choose different trim levels than you are poor folk needing guidance to make wiser buying choices, distasteful.

My answer to the post question, Hell No. The V-8 is why I bought my truck to begin with.

Could I get by in my truck with a V6, sure. I don't really tow and I don't think I will ever push it to its limits but I felt considering I was getting a crew cab with a standard bed, I just didn't think the v6 was enough. I also thought about the resale value and I would figure a v6 would get much less than a v8 as people love the v8s. The mpg difference was negligible as well. I also have a daily commuter car which helps too.

The V6's are moving in over the V8.

The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor – A First Look With V6!

The 2017 is powered by an all-new high-output 3.5L EcoBoost® engine. This new engine gives the 2017 Raptor more horsepower and torque than the previous 411-horsepower, 434-lb-ft 6.2L V8 in the Raptor.

Sort of. Turbo V6s are more popular than ever, but a lot of people aren't comfortable with the additional complexity and possible repair costs of a turbo motor.

MPG had nothing to do with my choice of a V6, the fact they made one with 285hp/305lbs torque with a 3.42 ratio six speed transmission had everything to do with it.

Read up on it, knew it would be roughly equivalent to the last three 5.3ls I had been driving. Didn't care they made the 5.3 faster because I'm in my 50s, racing days are over.

If they weren't I wouldn't be driving a pickup truck, I'd grab one of those 4 second 0-60 Camaros and leave every truck on the road looking like it was standing still. The ONLY "fast" GM truck is the 6.2l, and it's only .4 seconds faster than a V6 Mustang.

I just had a loaner truck for a few days. It was a '15 DC 6 cyl 2wd. Not sure on gears.

Let me just say that I was extremely impressed. I honestly wouldn't mind owning a truck with a 4.3 in it. Had all the power I could ever need and drove really well. It felt like it had more power than my 5.3 to be honest.

Also, my 50 mpg average was 24 mpg. That was 60% highway and 40% around town. Thats about 5 mpg better than my 5.3.

I was wondering how the V6 are doing after almost two years in the works. Any disappointments or problems while in use?
