As am I. It really made the respect bar for the brand go up in my eyes. Stuck with an Acadia for two days. Can't wait to get it back lol.

I noticed that my "cold fill line mark" on my overflow tank was about and inch or two below the mark when I had the hood open the other day that was with the truck havin sat two weeks without being started. I cant remember if It has always been like that since new or it has been leaking and now that I think about it I have noticed a coolant smell after parking and just kind of blew it off as no big deal. Where exactly have yall been finding leaks?

That's how mine was. I found a leak on the back side of my radiator on the driver side.

If you are smelling coolant in front of your truck it's almost certainly the issue that the bulletin addresses. I would take the truck in and show the dealer the bulletin. Don't let them just replace the radiator. They need to replace both the thermostat and radiator to properly fix the issue.

I wonder if covering up just enough of the rad to keep coolant temps up would help prevent the issue for those that haven't had it yet. It's a crappy fix but Ford did something similar as a bandaid for ecoboost F150's that were stalling.

My leak was top passenger corner of rad. A buddy of mine just bought a '14 Silverado with 30k and he asked the dealer (Wickstrom in Shaumberg, Il.) to inspect it after hearing about my problems. They assured him they went through it and everything was fine. He came by for some help installing his HID's two weeks after getting the truck and it wreaked of coolant when we popped the hood. Took a flashlight and low and behold, exact same leak in the exact same spot. He took it to my dealer and they replaced it along with the thermo. He got home and his horns didn't work when he locked up his truck. Lol, GM can't get anything right.

There is a setting in the intellilink/mylink that has to do with lights/horn blinking when using keyfob.

Been having similar issues with my '14 Silverado for a month or two now and have been following this thread. Coolant smell at the front of the truck after I park it. No visible signs of coolant leaking. Made an appt. at dealer for pressure test and to have it looked at. Wasn't very hopeful, but they called this morning and will be replacing the radiator and thermostat under warranty. Wasn't able to get any details but I'll post more after I pick her up.

where are you guys getting this bullentin from? any link or how to find it? I just bought my 2014 sierra have not even put 2000 miles on it but the truck overall has 52000 miles...

im gong on a trip this weekend but was planning to get oil change next week and mentioning this to them because exact systems everyone has described here. NO smell in cabin at all even with a/c or heat blasting from vents and idling nothing. But towards front of truck or if you open up hood it smells of coolant.

Just don't think a warranty would cover this issue for a truck with over 50000 miles?

thanks !

I got the bulletin information from the service manager. I have well over 50,000 miles on my truck and they fixed it. I would jot down the number and mention it and see what they say.

Had the smell outside the front of my truck, looked underneath the front bumper and noticed the rad leaking. Booked it in to my dealer, they replaced the rad and thermostat housing the same day. All parts were in stock. Win.

Had my radiator replaced under warranty at about 25k on my 14 5.3. Smelled coolant for a while and was very slow leak. Mechanic pressure tested and said no leak. Located leak myself and had to go back to show him where it was leaking. Radiator was made in Mexico. No issues with replacement so far. There is a tsb on this. They refused to replace thermostat even though tsb says to replace rad and thermostat. The service guy told me that 'tsb is like an extended warranty'. I read on here that people get work done at dealership according to various tsb info. My dealer wouldn't even check tsb on any of the problems I had with my truck.

TSB is not an extended warranty. It's called Technical Service Bulletin. It identifies a common problem and describes how to fix it. If you are out of warranty, the dealership service department will not replace it for free, at least most wont. Some will, out of the spirit of good customer service and wanting to keep you as a satisfied customer. If you have a RECALL, that is a safety related issue and applies to vehicles in or out of warranty and the work is covered by GM so no $$$.

Is this recall just for the 1500 pickups or the 2500 as well?

    • I am new to this… but I saw some of your replies to another person doing the same as me… trying to replace the temp control actuator in my 05 GMC SIERRA, And can NOT get to it… how do I get the center console panels off, do I have to take ALL of them off to get to it? 80481681120__F97CE005-C5E5-4FBF-9589-1388214E3586.MOV
    • I will be one of those "blinded". One, I like new shiny things. Two, I've never kept any of them beyond the 3/36. Three, I don't finance anything. Four, yep, it's a waste of money....so,what? I'm doing my part of keeping automotive industry going and keeping my neighbors, most of whom are in it, employed. 😉      By the way this is the "signature... ¬
    • Although there is a "recommended" weight by those who sell trailers, my experience has been that they are way too aggressive in their information, for me at least. My '22 with 6.6 Gas, has a payload of about 3400 lbs and depending on your specs (I don't have 4WD so it has a bit higher Payload than others) yours will likely be different. Payload is one of the most important numbers for towing. Although you "could" tow the max trailer weight for your truck, I, personally, would not go close to that number. Having said that, a lot depends on how/where you will be towing. I live in the LMD of BC and often tow to Denver, Co, along interstates (flat and mountains) and I find I need to keep it in 5th (6spd) for the trip and travel at around 65mph. This is for a trailer dry weight of just under 3500lbs. If you are only doing local, short trips, it would not be that big an issue if you had a heavier unit. You will be surprised how much stuff you load the trailer with, so I would only recognize the trailers "full" GVWR weight rating, then decide on the appropriate trailer from that number. If you are worrying about how much stuff you should be putting in a trailer, you might have too large a rig from the get-go. Once again, depending on what terrain/distance in which you will be pulling. Marv
    • davester, Thanks for the response, how ever, I think I am now a bit more confused than I was before I posted - - After I posted, I actually found a YT video of a guy who replaced his Module (above tire) and he only disconnected the ground cable of the battery, but you describe rubbing the two cables together after disconnecting. I presume that is to do as you describe and eliminate any residual energy? - When I picked up the Module (between my posting and reading your response) from the dealer, I specifically asked about any re-programming and he stated it was not necessary as it was simply plug and play. Don't know how knowledgeable he is, though. - The video I watched also showed the Module plug to be difficult to "unlock" and remove, but there was no mention of silicone, although the video did show a bunch of dust/dirt in and around the plug (old truck) during removal. Are you talking about silicone that was applied by the factory, or silicone that you applied prior to plugging in? Thanks again, Marv
