Intro, as well as a couple questions

First off, Hello. My name is Chris, and I live in Indiana. Married with a 1 yr old son. Nothing else really to exciting, I work out, play basketball from time to time, and am pretty much obsessed with cars and now trucks.

 

I don't own a truck yet. I've been looking for a while, basically been waiting for the right financials to fall into place.

 

I'm looking for advice. I'm pretty sold on a GM. I've owned a Pontiac G6 for the past 8 years. Haven't had many problems at all. Love it, but I've pretty much out grown it per say. We've needed to have a truck around for a couple years now, and I've always borrowed one from others, but we've pretty much decided I want and just flat out need to get one.

 

Getting to the point here, I drove by a friend of mines house on my way to my wifes work and his neighbor is selling a 2001 or 2002 (my friend wasn't sure what year) 2500 HD ext cab, looks to be LS maybe? or W/T if they had that trim back then. Base with 4WD basically. Not sure on options, but what got my attention was 34,000 miles. He wants $18,900 for it, which is high according to Blue Book, so if there's no budging then it's a no.

 

I wasn't looking to go that old of a truck, or that much hauling capability but with those miles, it's almost like a new truck. I guess my question is, if you were me would any of you go for that? Is there a common problem I should look for with this model year silverado? Were there child seat anchors back then?

 

Any expertise is welcome. I still have to drive it, and look it over, but wasn't sure if I should even bother. Thanks in advance.

Check the brake lines that run from under the drivers seat to the rear of the truck. They rot and become very frail then fail with no warning. My 2002 Silverado was the best vehicle I ever owned.

The rear seats should have the latch system, my 2000 I believe did.
