***UPDATE*** ***NO MORE SHIFT FLARES***

Since the transmission removal and the 3,5,R clutch pack replacement I can honestly say I have not had 1 shift flare... I am please with the outcome and extremely happy that my dealer was able to get the issue taken care of...

Now if I can figure out a way to keep my truck from getting parking lot dings I'll be a happy camper!!! :ughdance:

I have a 15 Silverado that seems to have the transmission acting up. It has happened a few times always in the same spot. I turn to go down a short grade (maybe 50 yards) and by the time I get to the bottom to accelerate the truck acts like it's in neutral. The engine will only rev up. I either have to shift it in and out of gear or come to a complete stop in order for it to go. I talked to the dealer and he said it was the hill decent control which makes no sense to me. Anyone else experience this?

There are two features that are pretty similar. Active Grade Control and Hill Decent Control, the latter of which is only available of 4x4 trucks and used to help the truck go down very steep, low speed defends. I have not used this feature but I thought the hill decent control was button activated.

The Active Grade braking automatically activates in Drive when going down a long decen. I'm not sure of the actual parameters that make it enable but I've had it turn on a couple of dozen times on me. It basically just rev matches and downshifts to help the truck take slow down. A more aggressive version of this is also activated via tow/haul mode.

I have never experienced what you are experiencing during active grade control, it's always in the right gear and will up shift right away.

Not entirely true HDC is also available on 2wd Z71 trucks, however as you said it is a button activated feature.

Got it, I was not aware that HDC was available on 2wd, thought it was a 4x4 exclusive feature.

I got my 15 end of Feb as well, build date not much before that. 20k miles and Trans still pisses me off

Picked up my 2015 slt crew cab, 5.3 6spd, 3.73 rear about 2 months ago. It lugs so bad in traffic I can't stand it. I feel like I made a $50k mistake. The dealer told me about the learning and wait 2500 miles or so to get used to it, blah, blah, blah. Went back again and they told me the now can "refresh" my computer with an update. They said it will affect my fuel economy and if I didn't like it with the update it could NOT BE put back to the way it is now.(not that I would want it back). Just the way he said didn't give me an easy feeling about it.....haven't pulled the trigger on it yet. Waiting for my first oil change to decide

My pos tune still flairs, still clunks :)

I think gm takes the stupid cake for now acknowledging this.

Couple of more months for me and I will officially start my lemon case.

15 dealer visits is a slam dunk :)

Good bye lemon lime car

I would go for it. I know I will if Im given the option when I take my truck to the dealer. The transmission is the single biggest problem I have with my 15.

Don't bother! I was told the same thing by my dealership service department when I took my 2015 in last week for an oil change. They would "refresh" my computer. All that means is they reset it to the factory setting and it starts over "learning" your driving style which is why fuel economy will be affected until it re-learns. It won't do anything to help the crappy shifting.......
