choosing a truck

I have 3 different truck options for next truck. They are based on personal preferences of styling price etc. Wouldnt mind some opinions. All would be 4wd and hopefully less than 100,000 miles. 1. 1995-1998 chevrolet k1500 ext cab 2. 1999 - 2005 Silverado 1500 ext cab. 3. 2006 - 2008 dodge ram 1500 quad cab. Will have one car seat in back. Im pretty sure all three of these options can fit rear facing or front facing car seat in back seat. Also would prefer 350, 5.3 liter, and 5.7 hemi but would consider 4.8 vortec or 4.7 liter for dodge if anyone has opinions about those engine choices. Any help would be great

I vote #2 and would recommend the 03-05 years. The drivetrain is essentially the same but there were a lot of other updates from the 99-02 years.

#2. 99-02 years where extremely solid platforms. 234,000 miles on my 01 original motor/trans/rear end. Dads 00 has 220,000 miles and is all original as well save for some breaks and a thermostat.

 

Do not get the dodge !

My '02 had about 280K on the original engine.

Would agree with everyone here. I owned 99 and a 04 and didn't have issues with either, Both just solid trucks.

Option #2. Preferably a 2006, I still can't get over the 03-05 front end.

I was leaning towards #2 - possibly #1. Can I ask why not #1? Are there a lot of problems with the 96 - 98 k1500s? Also for the #3 - I know this is a gm site not dodge so obviously gm is the favorite here - but are there a lot of problems with those years rams? Just wondering.....

I have no personal experience with 1 or 3 but you will find the 99-06 gm 1500s to be a favorite among a lot of gm fans. They are very solid well built trucks that will go the distance and then some if takin care of

I'm voting for #2. I would also recommend going hard for a 2005 because they have better/bigger brakes, electric engine fans etc...

#2, just from personal experience. My previous '06 was great and current '00 is solid at 365k miles.
