I give up. I'll just get the Tahoe LT with the Z71 package. I am not going on safari, I just want a car that is capable of doing most anything. I mean they advertise that on their website.. go anywhere do anything. Jeep is too small for me, and reliability is bad. I dont want to go for servicing all the time. Does anyone know if Tahoe has locking differential?

i would go online and try and build one and see what it says about it. it should be an option. i know the previous gen Z71 had the locker standard, not sure about the K2

Well first off, a GX 460 is a 4 runner with a facelift and v8, so I wouldn't discount its off road capability too much - it should go anywhere a Tahoe 4X4 could; they are just a lot narrower (cramped). The Tahoe/Yukon is more like the Armada with much better gas milage. You can get more clearance cheap with level kit and some bigger tires...

Not sure so much about the Tahoe, but the Z71 package on the Silverado is more than just aesthetics/trim. You get higher stance and better shocks. Judging by the looks of pictures online, same can be said with the Tahoe/Yukons. If we didn't need a 6'6" bed, we would have a Suburban. The new Tahoe is sweet though, and it MOVES very quickly.

Higher stance? No. Shocks, stickers, skid plates and interior trim.

You forgot wheels, hill descent, and better ground clearance by removing the front black chin spoiler. The Z71 package is worth it if you are wanting a LT.

Go measure center of the front wheel well lip and make sure the trucks have the same size wheels/tires. Almost positive Z71 sat 3/4" higher than 4x4. These trucks aren't like the NNBS where 4x4 and Z71 had the same front end shock. See below.. Hill descent, Heavy Duty Trailer Package, Z71 18" Wheels, etc...

Well guys, I just finished test driving a Tahoe 2015 and a Suburban 2015 back to back (not Z71). In all honesty I felt the Suburban had a better ride, but overall I was disappointed with my experience. Some of the reasons why :

1) very sluggish more so for the Tahoe. It seems like it just haven't enough umph.. maybe thats why the MPG is good.. not sure

2) second row leg room sucks. I mean come on.. for such a big vehicle the second row leg room should be spacious. I couldn't even fit comfortable (I am 6'2")

3) I believe I experienced what other people on the forum were complaining about.. this like bumpy/swishing sound when I reached > 50 mph. Not sure, but not as silent as the Lexus GX

So, I think I am going to have to pass, maybe find something different.. back to the drawing board

You can get a base Navigator for around $60K after discounts. Only option missing IMO is a heated steering wheel.

I like the Expedition but no HIDS/LEDs is a negative. You can get a nice Limited with all of the bells & whistles (heated/cooled seats, sunroof, middle captains, auto running boards, remote start, navigation, etc) for around $52K after discounts.

Well Im back! Despite about information, the dealership Im working with is giving me an awesome deal, so I couldn't resist. They are getting me the Z71 too. I will post back once I get it with photos

Mohanman - When I first starting driving the Tahoe I also thought it was sluggish and lagged a bit, then I adjusted the pedal. Felt stupid after that. Second row, moving up the front seats is probably the only thing you can do. The leg room even in the prior 2 generations is pretty consistent. Don't know what you mean by a bumpy/squishy sound?? But I guess saving a few bucks cures some ills?

I got my Tahoe today! Freaking awesome, I think the Z71 is fantastic. It looks like ground clearance is easily 2-3" higher than without package. Only thing I dont like :

second row seats, how come they make it so small!? should be at least 3-5 inches more leg space
