These trucks are beasts off-road.

I took a drive up the canyon on Sunday and decided to try out my rig in some mountain mud. We went up this really steep side forest serve road that was completely covered in deep mud from the melting snow. Some parts of it actually had streams running through it. My tires didn't slip once and we climbed effortlessly, and this was on the crappy stock SRAs.

Next we went higher up to a snow covered campground where we found a family from Texas stuck in the snow. I asked the dad if his Yukon had four wheel drive and he told me that he had overdrive but wasn't sure about it being a 4x4 (are all Texans this clueless?). We pulled him out in about 10 seconds and they were super excited to get down the mountain.

We parked in about 6 inches of snow and had lunch when a lifted 4Runner on 35s drove up. He pulled up and asked if I was stuck and I said lol no. Then he got stuck trying to drive out of the parking lot. He had to rock back and forth like crazy to brake loose and finally get back on the road. When we were done we decided to drive through the exact spot where he got stuck and we pulled through without losing traction at all. These trucks are amazing even in stock form. I can't wait to get a 2.5" level with some 285/60/20s,

The most offroad my truck has seen so far is a gravel parking lot....I know...sad.

She's a street queen though.

I took mine on some crazy steep grades last weekend, in the Texas Hill Country. The tires never even slipped. The hill decent control is amazing. Truly confidence inspiring off road. I can't wait to get it in the dirt again!

Agreed. Straight up billy goats. I have been most impressed. Especially in the snow.

Sad thing is I have a z71 and it hasn't even seen dirt. Only seen 1 snow day and it was a total of 2 inches, if that.

But still good to hear the trucks handle the off road well.

Don't get too cocky. When a 5000+ lb truck gets stuck, it usually ain't something a couple guys can push it out of. And they do get stuck. I've seen them up to the frame. The weight, combined with the relatively small tires, can let it go to the frame in a heartbeat.

+1

Some conditions skinny tires are better.

Some conditions wide tires are better.

They all can get stuck.

I buried my last truck so bad that a tractor had to get it out. Bent the trailor hitch on the first that tried and the second just couldn't do it. Anyway glad to see y'all are enjoying the new 4x4s!

I have had to put my truck in 4wd maybe 20 times. Had it 7 mo's. Its been stuck once. Soft, soft mud buried to the frame. Also have had lots of snow/ice and 8 inches of rain last month. Have cabin that is 45 min drive through rough terrain in the mountains. Really have been impressed with how well the 4wd handles. Taking the valance off of my truck was the best thing I ever did.

I spent the last weekend Off roading in the dunes and it handles awesome. Beat a dirt bike going full throttle. Jumped the truck many times once with 2' of air under the tires. All with the stock All terrain suspension. I can't imagine how it will handle with a mid travel kit.
