What is the real info on 22s

I am going to be getting the gm/knock off 22s and am trying to find out if I need to take it to the dealer to have it updated for the new wheels and tires. I will be using the oem 285/45/22 Bridgestone Dueler with either knock offs or oem 22s depending what I can find on price. The dealer tried saying I need to give them 1hr labor to have it updated is that correct and then pay for an alignment?

I have searched and searched with some conflicting reports of it being the same (stock 20s Vs 22s) so it will not affect the speedo and mpg or needing to get it done. Also read that the alignment specs are different?

What is the wideth of the gm wheels, all the knock offs are 22x9 but thought I found the ck163-164 were 22x10?

As long as you have the same overall tire size no need to get speedo recalibrated. I always get an alignment when new tires are installed. Stock is most likely 22x9.

My dad had the same Bridgestone Dueler tires on his 09 with 18's from the factory and I'm not a fan of them. Tread compound is very hard so need to keep them rotated plus they rode like crap to me. Then again, he's got Michelin ltx m/s 2's now so you get what you pay for

I loved the michelins on my old denali wheels, but they don't make them in 22s.

why would the dealer say you need to get it updated for the 22s then? (besides wanting to take my money)

I couldn't imagine a reason to "update" something unless it's a different size height tire. Not like they tune the vehicle for a few extra hp to help lug around the heavier wheels. It's not like you tell the vehicle what size wheel you have mounted to it, only telling it the overall height of the tire, which they are the same

actually the bridgestones that are put on the 22's and they used to put on the Tahoe / suburban 20" wheels are really good tires. quiet and have good traction, they give the Michelin's a run for their money. now the bridgestone a/t tires are garbage.

That's probably the tire I'm thinking about then. But the A/T is what my buddy has on his 22's and I told him to get him some better tires. Garbage from what I remember

I just pulled the trigger on the OEM CK 164 22" wheels. They should be here Friday or Monday. If I dislike the ride over my 20" Michelins, you may want to hang tight for a smokin' deal on some 22" wheels and tires from me. ;)

I'm a tech at a gm dealer, and I just put 22s on my sierra from the factory 18s. The only thing you have to do (if you get new tire sensors) is learn the new sensors which literally takes a dealer 30 seconds. We would most likely do that for free if you bought the truck here or get it serviced here.

Overall size of the tire is very close, so speedo won't be off. And on the tires, I'd spring for the extra 20 bucks per tire and get the dueler a/t's. A little more aggressive looking but are very quiet and ride great. Good luck!

Google tire comparison

This is a comparison from stock 20's on the Sierra All terrains.

If the .1 mph is enough for you to care, then go get it recalibrated, but I say, don't worry about it.

But like the gmtech said, I would go at's at a minimum. I would want as much rubber as possible on your setup since now you will be running a low profile tire

The a/t's are the tires that the 22 inch accessory wheels are coming with for the silverado: sierra's. Personally I have no complaints from the ride at all.

I wouldn't let others bad experience with them sway you, tire wear has a lot more to do with correct pressures and vehicle alignment.

There's not a ton of options in an a/t tire in 285/45/22, the only other option I was considering were the nitto terra grappler, but they do have a hum to them and ride rougher.

Most of the GM/Replica wheels are 22x9. Most of them have the same offset too, which I believe is around +27.

As mentioned above though, dealer shouldn't have to do anything (unless you're going there to have them mount and balance the tires). Other than that, TPMS relearn is a 1 minute job that just about anyone can do as long as you have 1 hand or you're good with your feet. Alignment is not needed, unless you're mileage is high and it's time for one. Speedo calibration not needed as long as you're staying close to factory tire/wheel OD.

Damn ur making me wanna get those for my 2015 cc they look nice

Damn those are sweet wheels. No dealer involvement needed. It kind of annoys me that they tell you something like that. As mentioned, if the overall tire size is close to stock tire size, then nothing needs done.
