oem gmc wheel backspacing and offset?

can someone tell me the backspacing and offset to the OEM gmc 20's SLT high polished wheels?

 

are they same as the 18" chevy Z71 wheels?

 

if I have 7/8" spacers would this give the oem wheels a more positive offset or backspacing?

Your going to have to post more details than just the size of the wheel. Posting a picture of the wheel in question would help the most. There are numerous wheel and tire combinations for these vehicles from the factory. Now they could be all the same backspacing too, I personally don't know that. I do believe the OEM Sport Package wheels that came on my Silverado were +23 offset.

Let say you have 20x9 +27. I think that is what most of them are.

 

With 7/8 spacers, you're going to push you wheels out that 7/8" which equal about 21mm. So, take your +27 offset and remove 21. That would have you sitting at 20x9 +6 (give or take a MM).

 

Regarding your question, the offset on the OEM wheel is not changing, you're just pushing them out to appear as if you had a 20x9 +6 wheel on the truck.

ok thanks guys, great info. and the backspacing 5" or so?

 

trying to make sure I can clear some larger tires from the new UCA's. they are large than OEM so if using factory wheels it will rub because of the offset. the spacers will push em out just enough to clear UCA. from what im told at least.

 

do you guys think that doing just the front will be noticeable to the naked eye when comparing to the rear with 7/8" spacers.

actually SLT get chrome 20's. SLE get high polished 20's or 18's. One style for each. same with chevy. if they aren't these styles. then they are special order wheels from GM. which is optional.

 

so when I say gmc SLT high polished 20" wheel. theres only one it could possibly be.

You'll have to google for an offset to backspace calculator, I am not sure on that one.

 

As for noticing 7/8 difference from front to back, I'd notice that in a heartbeat. I say run the spacers all around if that is your plan, or find wheels/tires that fit your ride height.

apparently with the larger UCAs you cant run oem wheels. im gonna see how looks and then decide if want rear spacers. I may go with a narrow tire now that im pushing them out 1" basically. maybe like a 34x11

7/8 inch is actually a bit over 22 mm.

 

Backspacing to offset calculation is just a tad more involved. The formula is

 

(W + 1)/2 - BS = OS

 

W = wheel nominal Width (inch)

BS = Back Spacing (inch)

OS = OffSet (inch)

 

To convert offset to mm, multiply the number by 25.4

so 7/8" someone said I can just put them on front and wont be that noticeable compared to back. some say it will.

 

what do you guys think.. I only have purchased the front 2 so far. $150.00

I saw somewhere on this forum the backspace on the factory 20x9 is close to 6"

I have black 20" OEM wheels, I'm looking to run 305 50 20 tires on them with a 2" level and 2" wheel spacers. Think that will fit?

Do the 305/55/20 instead. Taller tire which will fill in the wheel wells much better. I have read people doing only a 2.5 inch level and barely rubbing the sway bar. With your spacers should be even less of an issue.

    • I'm not sure if this should be a new topic, let me know if it's out of place. This my first post. Thanks 85077522 - AC Delco GM Genuine Parts Brake Master Cylinders. Anyone else had to replace this brake master cylinder yet. I didn't do any brake work, it looks like new parts and I've had the truck for about 4k miles, 119k total miles.  When it started to throw codes I did the calibrations with a bidirectional scanner and got the codes to clear but they came back so I did the routine; base bleed, automated bleed and final base bleed. All that with Bosch ES16-32N fluid (please look it up). That seemed to fix it but 100ish miles later it failed again so I ran the same process but with a pressure bleeder this time and got the same results, fixed for 100ish miles. The original fluid looked bad and I thought I got most of it out, it could've been the wrong fluid. The codes; P25A2, C05B0-00, C2A1B. I can get them to clear but not for long. The C05B0 indicates a leak in the front circuit (which is bone dry) so I'm thinking of doing the bleed process on that front again today and I don't know if that's taboo to just do the front but at this point it seems like it's worth the try anyway. The new master cylinder/module unit is supposed to get here today. But now I'm pretty much convinced this install is over my head. I've called several shops and some mobile guys that I know but this thing is like radio active material, scary wise. I did get 2 local shops say they should be able to do it, one says he has the SPS2 programing capability. And with the battery disconnected is there supposed to be pedal resistance, mine is to the floor, then if I pump it I can get some resistance. I had a panic stop prior to this issue which may have contributed from what I read. And on the first attempt to bleed and hydraulic test the scanner listed things to look for and one was any gaps between the pad and rotors which I did notice on the RF corner and I removed the outer pad (where the gap was) cleaned it and the hardware and didn't see a gap after that but will re-check it. I read that if pushing the caliper pistons back then you're supposed to open the bleeder so as to not push fluid backwards into the abs module or it will damage it. If that's true then that's also a possibility from the previous owner having the brakes changed before I got it. I'm using an XTool ip500 scanner. Any suggestions, questions and comments welcome. 
    • Next Friday will be my 6 week point from my right knee replacement.  The surgeon says it will be fine if I choose to drive after this checkup.  I know I could drive now but best to do as my surgeon (and my wife) tell me.  Richard compared being 62 to 72.  I remember when I was in my early 60's I was experiencing slow but regular decline in my mobility.  Thanks to good medical support,  i continued to fight the speed and spread of this decline. During my 60's I worked on non-surgical methods and just when I turned 70, my orthopedic surgeon recommended joint replacements.  In a little over a year, I had one shoulder and both knees replaced.  This hasn't been a terribly fun experience, but worth the discomfort as my future mobility health trajectory has reversed.  It is a treat to now be watching my mobility. balance and confidence steadily improve!
