Stiff Suspension

I think it does. I just did a comparison of a HighCountry and LTZ on Chevy.com. It shows the High Country having a "Suspension Package: High Performance." Whereas the LTZ had "Suspension package: Handling/Trailering"

While the High Country might not necessarily be more "heavy duty" they are surely different set ups. Probably different just shocks and spring rates.

But I remember hearing on this forum from another member who didn't like the ride comfort of their High Country truck when compared to a lower model.

I really want a softer shocks, would bilstein 5100 help much?

This a reasonable price??

No the 5100 are stiffer than the OEM plain jane and rancho shocks.

What would you recommend? some OEM Z85/Z60 shocks then? Because I rode in a base model, it rode as smooth as I want.

You might want to look at the Fox and King with the add-on adjustable damping.

Fox and King will cost a pretty penny. A softer shock doesn't always provide a better ride. Depends on the spring rate, geometry, and weight. I have the Z71 and will likely be going with Bilsteins. ~$350 for all four.

And I already know the stock ones are about what I like, but I am sure it would be just as costly from a dealership to if I bought some high quality aftermarket ones that offers similar and more durable ones.

Any other suggestions?

Did you ever get any standard oem shocks. I'am in the same boat as you, I like the ride on the highway but town streets you feel every joint in the road and holes and off road or turn row in my case can be punishing. It feels like the front end comes off the ground some times and I carry about 350 lbs of toolboxes in the rear all the time. I have always heard that the standard 4x4 road better that the z71.

I think any shock other than the regular 4x4 shock is going to be stiffer. I'am going to go with the oem's when I get a chance to.

I think the issue with the new GM trucks riding stiff is they are overly stiff at the rear. I think this was done to increase payload, but the byproduct is an overall stiffer ride. There have been several times where I've had 400-600lbs in the truck bed and the truck rides CONSIDERABLY nicer.
