I used this grommet for routing my door switches for the alarm mod.

I inserted the wire into the existing plug for waterproofing and also used extra wire and put a bend into it so it hangs below either entry point.

This way if any water runs down the wire it will drip off before it enters the cabin.

I put a set of Rigid spots on my '15 Crew 1500 and used the tow hooks as mounting points for aluminum home made mounts. Works great until I get my PB400 push bar. (I'll post pics if anyone cares)

Question is: Harness from Rigid is rather short and I am on the battery side with wires now so want to use passenger side door hinge grommet and was wondering how to get the plastic end panel on dash off to access wires once I push them thru the grommet. And.....passenger side grommet would work?
Plastic end plate on dash, visible with door open, has no visible fasteners so not sure if I should just pull??

I too aborted on the idea of using the nipple on the big grommet by brake master cyl as I just couldn't figure out where wires would come in and was nervous of jamming a hanger thru that grommet....

Thanks for any and all input guys !!

Wanted to drop in and say thank you for this, I used this trick to route my CB antenna wire through to the engine compartment. in the 2016 Silverado there's JUST enough room at the gap near the top of the hood/front fender to route the CB Antenna's connector. Made life a lot easier.

Is it possible to point out on the pic where the grommet comes through by the parking brake?  I just don't see it. Thanks.

The boot with the nipple is a pain but I found a easy way. If you reach up inside the cab there is a second piece that sits inside that boot. I pulled that out ran the wire then put it back in. Much easier with it out. the wire or snake hits that inner piece which makes it hard to fish it through.

There are four 7 mm screws holding the plastic panel underneath the passenger side dash.  This will allow you access to the door hinge grommet from underneath the dash.  I used a wire coat hanger and pushed from the inside out with my hand pushing back on the rubber grommet from the outside.  Once wires were pulled through, I sealed the pass through with silicon.

As for the removing the door sill panel, watch Phil's video on replacing the door sills with illuminated door sills.

Thank you Ryan!
I ended up having a stereo installer fish wires thru with bad results. He used engine cover/hood release cable hole rendering release inoperable. Had to go back and he then slashed big grommet by master cyl and went that way. Had to patch with black RTV. Idiots.
Top Tint of Savannah. Ok on window tint but they SUCK at wiring.

Thanks again,

Dave

This is an older thread...but man, it was so helpful when running a couple of new feeder circuits for a new switch box I installed that I had to post and say THANKS!

I have a 2018 Silverado and was having a hard time figuring this problem out, but this works like a charm.  I can easily put sealer on the hole just in case of possible leaks . Plus I now have access to run more wires. THANKS! '014SLTguy
