Plug & Play Fog Lights with High Beams

This is a install of the Plug & Play Fog Light harness from gen5diy.com on my 2015 GMC Sierra.

Hopefully this will help give some the confidence they need to dive into this type of project.

Here is the harness I received from gen5diy.com.

After removing the lid to the airbox and the filter, grab the base here and with a quick pull upward

the 2 grommets will release the base from the truck.

Carefully remove the push retainers to free up the headlight cover and wiring attached.

Remove the plastic pop rivets to free up the headlight cover.

Fold back the cover and disconnect the wiring harness.

Connect the supplied harness and route the long end down by the radiator and connect to the fog light harness under

the center of the bumper. Replace the cover with plastic pop rivets and replace the wiring holders.

Here is where I chose to mount my bracket for the harness relay and a relay for the 32" LED Curved Light Bar.

2" X 1/8" aluminum bent to 90 degrees fits perfectly.

Bracket was drilled and tapped and screws were anchored with Locktite.

Bracket attached to airbox.

Air box replaced and relays mounted to bracket.

Attached relays to battery junction box.

Final appearance of truck with headlights on Bright, LED Fog lights ON, 32" Curved LED light bar ON. Night turns into

day when all three are illuminating the way!

Is there a chance that you can supply part number to harness that you used?

What is the purpose of this mod? Be able to turn fog lights on during high beam? If so, just do the simple diode mode under BCM. No airbox removal, just one diode then it works when ever high beam is on

Dude please don't tell me you dropped $75 for a harness to do what a $1.50 diode and about 5 minitues could have done? Did you see the thread about having your high beams on with fogs??

Yes that way will work to, but you dropped some 40K + this way you will loss your GM warranty, so is it to much to spend?

My diode mod was plug and play, and reversible. 0% chance of voiding a warranty as long as you take your time to use the proper pins.

Very cool.

This appears to work for those of us looking to add foglights as well but don't want to go through custom BCM programming or problematic forward lamp harness replacement.

Nice writeup!

Its a nice trick, but will fale in the long run, some will not have a hard time taking the diode out but most will. IMO

but thanks for the info to the community.

will make one like that here soon, and it will have the PS24 connecters for the OEM bulbs.

That would be cool. For those who don't know.. the factory harness has a "connector" on each end that converts the harness to the bulb. They're something like $50 each from GM.

Could you explain how the diode "trick" is ever going to fail?

I think you'll have a hard time selling that idea since there are a ton of people using the diodes and no reported failures. Even people who screwed up the install didn't damage anything, they just needed to flip the diode around.

You have to be joking about the diode being hard to remove right? You install this kit and I'll install the diode, we'll then bet everything we own on who can remove their solution fully the fastest. Please make sure your truck is clean when it is delivered.
