Fuel pump keeps running

Hello,

I have a 2008 Sierra SLE with a 5.3 engine. When I turn the truck off the fuel pump continues to run. I swapped the A/C compressor relay with the Fuel Pump relay in the fuse block but that did nothing. I tried pulling the Fuel Pump fuse and it still kept running. The only way I can get it to shut off is by pulling the Fuel System Control Module fuse. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Dale

Fuel pump flow control module. They get moisture and corrosion, split apart or short out. Its up above the spare tire on the frame.

Thanks for the info! Sounds a hell of a lot better and cheaper than pulling the fuel pump.

Its around $170 for the part. It may or may not be under a special policy or recall but you'd have to have a dealer run your VIN and see if it is covered on it.

I found the part through a seller on Amazon for $95. I plugged the wire into the new part before attaching it to the frame to see if it would work. Nothing at all happened the fuel pump would not work it would not even run for the few seconds that it's supposed to do when the key is turned on. thinking that maybe it needed to be grounded I attached an alligator clip wire to the frame and to the threaded fitting in the part that attaches it to the frame. That did not help either. I appreciate your thoughts on this.

Thanks,

I did some more research on the internet and found out that the FSCM P/N: 20759945 units may need to be programmed.

And now this morning I put the fuse in to start the truck and it started fine but then about 30 seconds later it died so I go check the fuse and its blown. Now when I put a new one in it blows immediately upon contact. Apparently now I have a short somewhere Does anyone know where I can find the schematic for the fuel pump system?

If you guys could help me I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Dale
