Was having fun in my 2wd

Surprisingly the traction control works very well. Had the back wheel come off the ground twice and it stopped it and got me moving up.

Doesn't automatic differential locker (RPO G80 in full-size) come as, at least, an option in these trucks?

Traction control does not and will not get you unstuck, traction control will get you stuck! It actually makes things worse when trying to spin the tires and get the vehicle moving.

The traction control cuts power. You can thank the locking rear for getting you out.

Not to mention that if you try to stop in sand or going down a soft hill, you will have no brakes. That's why there is a switch to turn it off, thank goodness.

I think traction control is more for curves like stabilitrak. Even if you try to do a 0-60 or just WOT from a standing stop you will take off much faster and better with TC off even though you'd think TC would help.

Are you sure you don't have the G80? Look in the glove box at the RPO codes and look for the code G80.

The Eaton G80 locker has been an option since the '70's at least. My '86 Buick GN had it.

My 2000 T/A WS6 had it, and at the track traction control slowed me down a lot vs. having it switched off.

It's a great differential.

I haven't run my duramax since I've tuned it but when it was stock it consistently ran faster with TC on, I ran it about 8 or 9 times all different ways

I know G80s aren't as tough as they should be, I hope the ones in these new K2s and 2nd gen Colorados/Canyons are better. But I will certainly admit that the G80 in my 98 Z71 helped me out a lot. The biggest was when I was in a mudhole so deep that the water was above my bumpers and had water coming into the cab (stock height, just leveled) almost getting to the top of the trans hump (luckily it didn't since that's where I had my CB at the time). Well I was able to work myself out of that hole without any help and I think it was the G80.

I just used the timer in the DIC, but turning TC off made it about 1 second quicker when I did 0-60. Also when I was messing around on a dirt road a few days ago I went from a standing stop 1st with TC on and then with TC off and I could feel more power with a lot more wheel spin with TC off. I didn't even spin tires when I did the 0-60 run with TC off and that's probably because I have 3.08 gears. The only time I can get it to even scratch off is when I'm turning out of a parking lot or something like that, but that's nothing special since you can do that in anything. Also with TC on it seemed to take a little bit longer to start to get up to speed. It's almost like it took a second or 2 to really get going. I've also read others saying TC off helps them launch better, hell even in the Fords turning TC off helps launch. Maybe yours was different because you're is diesel, but I don't know. Just saying from what I read and my experience with what I tried.
