Also the new truck did it have the same gear ratio your truck has??? That could make a big difference imo. I've driven both 3.08 and 3.42 and the 3.42 is def. more snappy.

The Rancho shocks on my personal 2014 truck at 15,000 miles are definitely shot, confirming they're the garbage I thought they were. I need Bilsteins ASAP.

Also, there was a thread on this forum about a beta test software/tune that cleans up the transmission shifting and makes the truck feel more responsive. I don't think we ever found out one way or the other whether that was true or not. But I can definitely say that this 2015 feels 10x more powerful and responsive than my 2014 and it's the same engine and transmission.

How do you know they are shot? Did one fail or are you just comparing to the ride of the new truck? I can't see a shock being shot in 15k miles, you do realize the 15k miles of driving allows the shock to break in and loosen up versus brand new right? If that is the case take it in for warranty and have it replaced, they should last much more than 15k unless you are abusing the heck out of it.

Monotube shocks shouldn't break in and loosen up. The only reason they'd loosen up is shock failure. Now maybe other suspension components loosen up like the rear leafs or front coils....I guess that's a possibility. But Ranchos are notorious for failing extremely prematurely. My truck, when compared to this 2015, seems to be bouncing around like my 2007 did at around 75k+ miles when I finally replaced my shocks. I do plan to try and call up there and get them checked while it's in the shop.

So got my truck back this morning and returned the loaner. My comments about the shocks being shot may have been wrong. I think it's more a factor of the rest of the suspension loosening up on my truck....like the coils and rear leafs, etc. Driving my truck this morning, I noticed the bounce of the truck after hitting a bump settled nicely and there wasn't a lot of residual bouncing which tells me the shocks are fine. However the degree of the bounce was a little more pronounced which seems to indicate the rest of the suspension components just aren't as stiff as a brand new truck. Overall, I'd say there's no real issue here....just me being paranoid when comparing an older truck to a brand new one.

The loaner was DEFINITELY more responsive though with regards to pressing the accelerator and getting it to move. I may have to do a fuse pull again on my truck and see if I can wake it up somehow.

What fuse do you pull to reset it?

I noticed responsiveness is better on mine compared to a 15' 8 speed I test drove earlier this year, and it is also better than a friends 14' sierra with 6 speed. Its got equal or better response than my 2014 f150 work truck with 5.0 (I know some guys here boasted on how much better fords throttle response was).

It's near instant when I hit the gas. Right from the dealer I drove it more aggressively to see if this "transmission learning" thing is real. It was a little sluggish in the first 50 miles but then after it literally sat overnight the next day it woke right up and seems to be getting better ever since. Currently have 1300 miles on it.

I can't remember there's 3 of them though. From the fuse box in the engine bay. There's a thread around here somewhere that talks about it.

The other way is to just pull the negative terminal on your battery for 30 minutes which will reset all of your custom settings like radio presets.

Yea, I don't want to reset the radio, so gonna have to find that thread.

Yeah I sorry I thought I had it bookmarked. It was a thread about sluggish throttle response I believe if you want to search those terms and see what comes up.

Found it: #34,39,43,51 in the engine compartment fuse box for ~30 mins

Yeah I retracted my statement about mine being shot but I dunno. Backing out of my dads driveway this evening my truck rocked side to side a good few times....more than it should. I need bilsteins bad!
