Mylink issues playing iPod classic

When I plug the iPod in it works fine for the first song. After going to the second song the music plays but the display shows the old song. It will keep displaying the first song until you reconnect the iPod. If you turn the truck off while it is in that state nothing will play at all until I unplug the iPod and reconnect it.

How many songs you have on that ipod? I remember reading somewhere that the mylink has trouble with ipods that have over 10,000 songs on it.

I have a few thousand on mine, and have no issues like that. The only issue I have is that I have to set it to shuffle after I shut off and restart the truck. Otherwise it goes in alpha order from where it left off.

My truck does not like my ipod classic. 18000+ songs. But I also heard from my salesman that the intellilink doesn't like hard drive based storage devices which the ipod classic is when you manually manage the music. If you have a newer one, supposedly they changed the format style to a flash based system or something like that. When I would get it to work, it would also go to the next song but show the name and album of the song that previously played. Skipping to the next song sometimes fixed it. I bought a 64 gig SD card to fix my ipod issue and it works great.

I had the exact same issue. Called GM and they couldn't figure it out either.

What you have to do is work/choose your your music through your display. I was trying to choose songs or playlists through the i-pod.

You have to plug your i-pod in and let the my link radio take it from there. On your my link display choose "browse". Then choose playsist or artist or whatever.

It will work fine after that. The display will display the song that you're listening to.

When I chose songs or artists or playlists on the i-pod I had the same issue as you. Plug the i-pod in, let all of your music kind of download into the radio and choose your music through your radio not your i-pod.

Hey JmacG. Does your album art work on the sd?

My iPod is a 7th gen 120 gig classic. It has 3000 songs on it.

There's a techlink notice about this from a couple months back:

http://sandyblogs.com/techlink/?m=201503

When listening to a connected iPod® in some 2015 LaCrosse, Regal, ATS, CTS, SRX, XTS, Corvette, Impala, Silverado 1500, Sierra 1500; and 2015 1/2 model year Escalade models, Silverado HD, Suburban, Tahoe, Sierra HD, and Yukon Models (only Utilities and HD Pickup Trucks equipped with RPO AVF – Effective Point Control, 2015 1/2 M.Y.), the first song will still display when the next song in the list on the device is playing.

This condition can be remedied by pressing the Next button while the device is playing. (Fig. 14) This will enable the system to properly display the song information for the rest of the drive cycle. Engineering is currently looking into this condition and more information will be released when available.

Of the albums that have album artwork in them, yes the album art work shows.

I was tempted to try my wife's nano and see if that would work. I generally get about 5-6 songs in, then my ipod will reboot itself.

What he said. You got to know how to use the system. Plug your i-pod in and put it down and forget about it. Choose your music/playlists/artists through your my-link system

I have the same issue with ONE of my iPod classics (a 160gb). Though half the time, the system never even FINDS the iPod.

My other iPod, an older 60gb iPod... I don't have the issue the OP describes. However, it's relatively often that the system never finds it in the first place.

I gave up and use a USB thumb drive. Works well enough. About once every 2 months it stops working, and I have to power cycle the truck with the thumb drive removed, then plug it back in and it works.

I made sure to follow the instructions to get it to work. It worked until i shut the truck off. Upon restarting the audio system locked up and would not play any media until I disconnected/reconnect the ipod from the usb port. Then the same thing all over again. Is there a software update for this issue yet? How do I get a software update without going to the dealer?

I've tried all the suggestions from multiple sites and my week old 2015 Silverado refuses to consistently play my 160gb classic. I've set the iPod back to factory default, removed songs from 11,000 all the way down to just 500, uncheck the enabled disk use and started the truck without iPod plugged in and then plugged in after its started, but I still get the same results. Sometimes the radio detects it sometime its doesn't and when it does its like you stated. About 5-6 songs in it locks up and reboots. Once that happens you can forget it. You have to go back thru the steps of stopping and starting the truck.

I've started using my iPhone to play music thru the Bluetooth, but even that comes with its own set of bugs. Sometimes my music will dim as if I received a message and then never go back to normal volume. I have to stop the song, start the song and then hit the back button (or rewind I guess you could say) and then boom the sound is at full volume again. (Learned the hard way not to turn up the sound trying to figure it out!) Only to have do it again on the very next song.

I've looked to see if maybe their is an update for the radio, but can't seem to find anything. This is really frustrating because I have moved this iPod from vehicle to vehicle without any issues and I probably haven't listened to regular radio in about 10 years.

use the browse button on the radio display and navigate to the desired artist, album, song, or Genre. Once the desired selection is made, the correct information will be displayed on the radio screen.
