Been looking at new Sierra's but I'm concerned with the vibration issue discussed here and other places. Other issues with these trucks don't worry me all that much; all brands have similar issues. I had an 06 Chevy that had horrible issues with the front differential, transfer case, transmission, etc. It was a nightmare and the dealer was terrible. So when I read about the vibration issues, it has me worried all over again. I'm curious to how wide spread the issue is and is it still an issue with the 15's on the lots now?

I am not a brand specific guy. Currently drive a Ford, had a couple Dodge's too. Problems with all of them. Fewest with Dodge amazingly enough. I just want a quality truck........what gives?

Do a thorough test drive before purchasing

I am in a similar boat as the OP I test drove a Sierra in format I want. Crew cab 6'6" bed center console leather. I really like the looks but I fell in love with the interior. The one i drove had terrible colors but I wont be buying for at least another month.

The GMC dealer I went to has a 72 hour return policy even if i want to return it becuse of the color. I plan to test drive an F-150 tomorrow but I have some concerns about those too.

I always do; this is not a way of preventing issues however.

That is why the manufacturer offers a warranty.

You will always hear more negative than positive on the Internet. It's an easy way for people to get their complaints out.

The vibration thing is bad if you have it but I don't think it is as widespread as some say it is. GM has sold close to a million of these trucks by now and if they all shook as bad as some say then how are they selling them? I have also talked to everybody I run into since I bought mine last year about shaking and how they like their K2's and no one has noticed any shaking and they all love their trucks. I do have a shake that shows up around 72mph but it is intermitten and I am not about to let my local dealership start throwing parts at it with hopes that they get it right. As others as said, test drive more than one and try to keep it for a day or over the weekend, many dealerships will let you do that. If you are looking for problems though you will find them, wether they are there or not, with any truck.

I understand new veh's have a warranty. But, it was a nightmare with my 06 and I have a job, wife, kids, etc. Seems guys here are spending alot of time at the dealer with warranty work. Just trying to avoid another pos. I may drive a GMC and see how it goes.

Are the HD models plagued with the vibrations also?

I am pretty sure the vibration issue was a 2014 problem fixed for 2015. My CCSB is nothing short of awesome

As a GMC owner, I advise you to not get suckered into the "precision" or "professional grade" crap GMC marketing spouts off. My Sierra came off the same line as every Silverado, built by the same people, and suffers from the same quality issues.

Nope. Mine vibrated due to tires, and required me to spend out of pocket to fix it. The vibration thread in the subforum is has a number of people that own 2015s with vibration issues.

You are taking a gamble when purchasing any new vehicle really. I bought mine knowing of all the possible quality control issues that guys here ran into, and I have none save for headlight lighting quality which with projectors they should've went with HIDs to begin with.

I drive a 2014 F150 XLT/XTR ext cab as a work truck, and we have about 20 of them where I work. It's nice to have a comparison like this and see the issues on 2 sides of the fence. Fords have their fair share as well I can tell you right now with this many in plain sight.

Dodge is not as well known to me, but it sounds like electrical is their biggest problem based on the few 1 ton service trucks that I have seen at work and when I've surfed some Ram forums.

I would go with what suits you the most. Test drive them and option them out and whatever appeals to you go with that choice. I test drove new fords and I liked them, even at the XLT trim they were a better upgrade than prior years by a long shot, and the weight reduction and power increase in the 5.0L was noticeable for sure. However I leaned toward having the option of high towing capacity coupled with a V8, which GM out shinned ford and dodge, I just can't fathom a twin turbo v6 pulling weight and lasting while doing so. I know there are ecoboosts lasting a while, it's just a personal thing.

The Ram Ecodiesel is a new player to the game and that comes with potential problems and I see that on some ram forums, but does seem like a capable engine however the 5.7 is rated for better towing.

Just finished reading the Consumer Reports Auto again today. One of the reasons they didn't have a pick for a truck in 2015 was stated as the poor quality of GM truck.... and the Ford, Canyon, too new to rate. Quote on GM "Much below average quality".

My experience is that the warranty works well on things that fail but many other issues can be deemed normal, couldn't duplicate, working as designed, etc. GM and probably other Manufacturers may have a culture problem, ala GM safety issues of the past. IMO don't expect too much out of the warranty! Lemon Law filings wouldn't be necessary if GM was fair and proactive.

My 14 is perfect. My neighbors 14 is perfect. My pastors 14 is perfect. Other people I know who have a new GM/Chevy have had no problems.

My 14 is the smoothest driving vehicle I have ever owned; and I've owned a lot.

Don't let the "chicken little" syndrome on this site scare you from buying one. They are awesome trucks!

No issues with mine... Just the normal things done ie: had the headlight upgrade done and also had the radio update done. The only real servce was done just after I got it to replace a defective fog light bulb.

Been real happy with it.

My 14 has been perfect as well other than the headlight issue which my dealer fixed with the update. I would buy again tomorrow if need be.
