As a GMC owner, I advise you to not get suckered into the "precision" or "professional grade" crap GMC marketing spouts off. My Sierra came off the same line as every Silverado, built by the same people, and suffers from the same quality issues.

lol yup. I worked on a line while in college, and parts came off the line labeled sierra/silverado. Even Cadillac parts came off the same line as chevy and GMC. Difference is Cadillac has lower tollerances and higher QA/QC farther down .

My 14 is the smoothest driving vehicle I have ever owned; and I've owned a lot.

I actually think the newer trucks seem to ride really rough. Not sure if this is due to the 20" wheels but I've driven other competitors trucks on 20" wheels that ride better. IMO, my roommates 13" SLE with the 20" wheels rides smother than mine. I'm just able to feel all the bumps and crevices on the road.

I havent noticed anything crazy yet. Almost at 15k and no issues. I hate the trans tune, but most people wont notice that. Quality-wise, I think everything is great.

Mark another one for a perfect 14. No issues what so ever. Awesome truck.

Truck has known issues, well documented. The vibration/shake is probably at the top of the list- I suspect the 15s will be a little better than the 14s overall just because you got to think gm did something to alleviate at least some of the many problems. I have had 2 '14 trucks thus far, I'm taking my current $50k+ truck in Friday for a 5th time for vibration, it is nearly out of warranty now and I'm not sure what else to do, the service mgr is going for a ride with me in it so he can see it for himself in action.

I plan to sit in the middle of the back seat (crew cab) and document the vibration and convo between myself and the service mgr, then I plan on emailing it straight to GM until someone listens, then I want my money back- ALL of it, and they can take the truck back and peddle it off to some other unwitting victim.

The tranny crap is all programming designed to coddle the drivetrain so it hits the 100k mark w/ ease, It also has to do w/ extreme interference of safety nannies w/ pulled timing, torque mgmt, stabilitrak intervention prematurely etc to keep the truck neutered in essence to avoid wrecks who knows, a tranny tune will do wonders- but the vibration is seemingly not fixable, I've had enough.....and to think what I paid for it w/ all this vibration going in then to see the. Nonchalantly advertising $8500 off msrp now and dealers discounting even more is just a slap in the face

Walk away is my advice. Get a dodge, somewhere along the line they became the best of the 1/2 tons

Been looking at new Sierra's but I'm concerned with the vibration issue discussed here and other places. Other issues with these trucks don't worry me all that much; all brands have similar issues. I had an 06 Chevy that had horrible issues with the front differential, transfer case, transmission, etc. It was a nightmare and the dealer was terrible. So when I read about the vibration issues, it has me worried all over again. I'm curious to how wide spread the issue is and is it still an issue with the 15's on the lots now?

I am not a brand specific guy. Currently drive a Ford, had a couple Dodge's too. Problems with all of them. Fewest with Dodge amazingly enough. I just want a quality truck........what gives?

My 2014 Silverado and the 2 other guys I work with that have them don't have any vibrations. I think you answered your own question. You have the best luck with Dodge……….. go with Dodge.

Yes my Sierra has had issues but all cars trucks will. Buddies new 15 f 150 is already having door alignment and engine sputtering issues. It's under warranty so you will be ok. These trucks look great

So as you can see, there are plenty of 14/15's with zero problems. There are hundreds more that are satisfied with their trucks than there are who are displeased. It's always the people who have issues that cry the loudest.

Haired sums it up pretty well. It's a roll of the dice. My F150 has had issues, and has rust issues. Might keep it another year. Is paid off and I've had it since new. I hate the dealer I purchased it from; will seek out a new dealer to service it. May jump into a Sierra if I find a mega deal I can't pass up.

Maybe the 2016's will care better?

My '14 has been perfect, except due to minor vibration that I caused because I unbalanced the tires while off roading. Only problem the truck itself had was the stock headlight bulbs being complete and utter crap. It's a really comfortable vehicle, and running costs are very good. It's a well built truck, but sometimes, due to the price point, we forget that no matter how nice it is, it's still a Chevrolet, and not a german luxury perfectionmobile.

I'm at 30,000 miles no issues here, knock on wood.

    • Are you going to take long trips in it?  If so, try out the seats in the various trims. For me the lower trim level seats were not comfortable.
    • I have a 2016 that I bought new and still own. I'm around 129,000 miles now. The biggest problem was a transmission failure about 2 years ago around 95000 miles. No warning, just failed while driving down a back road. A reman GM transmission installed and it's been fine ever since. A few other minor problems along the way. I am in no hurry to replace it. It's been paid off long ago and do plan on driving this as long as I can.   I will admit I am leery about all the additional electronics in the newer models and feel that it is just more potential problems. I think there's actually more than I would have wanted in this 2016 but so far so good. I think even if something major like lifter failure happened, it would still be cheaper to at worst, drop a new engine in than buy a new vehicle.
    • I’ve own several successful businesses. I’ve bought homes and lived in different states. I’d witness several generations buy homes and survive in different economic circumstances. You get awful sippy when people have different experiences than you do. You live a life. I’ve lived a life. It seems our experience has been different. You can point out generalized statistics. Some people learn how to thrive when the odds are against them. Living in different states does make a difference in a persons quality of life and economic outcomes and opportunities. That’s a fact Jack. It’s my truth, my life. Hard work and long hours the right environment made my families life easier. And yes moving to a different state increased the odds of that happening. Stats are generalized. People who thrive don’t make excuses. They beat the odds. Others get mad and point to those statistics. I guess that’s you. My post pointed out how you helped people beat the odds. Somehow your panties got in a wad. Go figure.
    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
