2ND UPDATE:

Ok, some trial and error (and beer) on this part. Epoxy makes a mess, don't do this on the dining room table like me, you'll get yelled at. I promise.

I used Opaque white dye and clear epoxy... "Environmental Technology Casting Epoxy"

Masking tape to cover the holes in the back.

I poured it 3 times before I got it right. then put a top coat on top of that.

mixing the epoxy correctly and keeping it warm while you do it is key.

It has anti-gassing agent in it, so the bubbles come out of it.

I then took a razor blade and began scraping off the epoxy on the outer edges. looks good so far.. now to try the led section of the project.

I received an accessories book from a chevy tent at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway the other day and it mentions that the silverados will be receiving a light up emblem. There is a picture in the book. The book said it was coming in fall of 2016

I am going to get myself a bluetooth controller so I can select any color and brightness and control it from my phone

It was a project on the side. Used the OEM Factory GMC emblem, cutting and epoxying it. Took lots of time but after all said and done. All I had to do was pop my GMC emblem off and pop this one into place. Made the wiring harness too, so just had to connect positive and negative.

Very cool and innovative indeed.

But Damn!  This would be distracting to oncoming drivers.

Best suited for a car show sitting still !
