Ok so I have a 1987 Chevy Silverado k10. I'm wanting to go LS, and no budget... I'm a big fan of the LS7, but wouldn't be opposed to another LS that would operate better. Currently has a TH400, and np208. Has 1 ton axles and planning on running 4.88's and 43" super swamper sx's. Just looking for some insight on whether to keep the 5.3 in swapping in with a transfer case doubler, or go bigger in displacement. May even consider 6l90 swap if they can take the beating.

Any LS besides the LS7 and LS9. If you want to go big go with the crate LSX 454. Iron block and LS7 heads. It is a beast

i like the LS motors, but i would go with a 496 or 502 BB just for ease of install..but if your heart is set in a LS base i would go with a LSX 454.

good luck

How about the 572?

Well I would much rather have a fuel injected setup. I know the LSX 454 can be fuel injected, but after looking at the dyno charts for both motors, I believe you can get more bottom end from the ls7. And I may end up boosting the LS7 with a magnasun supercharger, and it's already fuel injected. I'm not opposed to the 454, but I do want to be able to drive down the road in this thing. Just thinking about doing something different for a change. Everybody is always putting a 454 in those trucks.

The 454 can be injected. There are places that have the parts. MSD and Holley i think have kits that come with everything to do it for the LS7 heads. Or get the injected LSx376. It is cast iron and will take. Boost better.

A 376 LSX in my opinion is your best option. It's a great motor and loves boost. So seeing as you're looking to go with forced induction I think you should opt for the 376
