What's longest gotten out of original battery? Have 5 year old 50k one and think time for new one. All Winter truck sat outside and didn't drive it in the winter. Went to move it one day and the battery was dead. Been using it every day since April no issues till other day it started odd and then shut it off 10 mins later and wouldn't start not even enough juice to roll windows up.

14 years and 160,000k. Still doing fine. Took about a minute in -30C this winter to get going. Not as strong as in 01 but it started.

I always go for the 100 amp beast, I start to worry about a new one after about 3-4 years or so, summer is no big deal but winter can kill it dead in one night, For the money its not worth the hassle

Well this is the first truck I've gotten with the original battery, but the longest I've had a battery last was maybe 6 years. I've always gotten Duralast though and they've been great batteries. I had the alternator in my '98 partially work so everything was going off of both the alternator and battery and the battery was slowly losing voltage. Once the engine is running most everything runs off of the alternator.

Take it to Autozone and get both the battery and alternator tested.

I replaced my battery this past winter, as a cold snap fianlly did in the original. The original had went for almost 9 years, which is the longest I have ever gotten out of a battery. I could have re-generated it on my optimate charger, but didn't have the time to do so.

7 years this month. It starts slow now if it sits for a week so I'm going to replace it soon.

I always replace them every four years. Just not worth the risk of stranding given the relatively small three dollar per month outlay.

I don't have that kind of luck, I usually get 5 years out of our batteries. 14 years is outstanding.

I normally do better than 5 but this one is kind of unbelievable. It outlasted my brake lines. It might outlast my frame.

Is it starting to look like thses are all factory batts that are lasting 6 or 7 years? or do you guys get that kind of life on off the shelf batts too?

If its a factory batt, I'll think about getting one when the time comes!!

And is it more of a southern thing? (less harsh winters?)
