Clear bra bubble

I just picked up my truck after having a clear bra installed and there are some small bubbles. The installer said it is normal and they will disappear after a week or so...

 

Does anybody have any experience with this? Will they actually disappear? It is a black truck so I assume everything is more noticeable.

I have a few too and waiting on them to go away. Truck is black so i check em everyday waiting for them to disappear. Only been a few days and they said it was normal as well

I have the Llumar paint protection film installed on the front portion of my hood as well as my front bumper. It is normal to have some bubbles, most go away but you may have a few small bubble remaining. Try parking your truck in direct sunlight, the heat should help make those disappear.

 

Remember, the whole point of the film is to protect your paint and I'd take a few bubbles over a chip in the paint any day.

Yep it's normal. My installer said that after a couple weeks if they don't go away after being in the sun to bring it back in and he uses a needle and sucks the water out.

 

Had a couple that he did that too and it looks perfect.

While I haven't had this done yet to my truck, that happens tomorrow...I did have the clear bra installed on my 07 vette when new. And there were NO bubbles at all. I am not saying everyone else is wrong - only indicating my experience. Best of luck and I'll update after my install tomorrow. Who knows - maybe I'll have bubbles too :)

I think it also helps to let it sit in the sun after they install it. To help evaporate the bubbles.

Will someone post a picture of this? I don't like the air deflectors and what not but if this item is something like clear window tint designed to cover/protect my paint without really being all that noticeable I am definitely interested.

I have had three installed on dark grey...no bubbles. Let us know if they go away. Dark colors show the most and the owner/manager at Transguard has always done mine himself.

After two weeks all but one bubble went away. Looks like it is working its way to the edge though

Some may not. Trick to fixing them, is to use a small syringe. Fill it with a water and alcohol mix solution. Bend the needle so you can puncture the bubble parellel to the metal. Fill the bubble. Then use a micro fiber cloth and rub progressively smaller circles around the bubble, towards the puncture, to get the solution out. It works great. The film will heal where you puncture it after a day.

There is a big problem of taking photographs of installed clear bra, it's invisible enough that cameras can't capture it. The only possible scenario is when it's installed over paint surface that's worn or "damaged". The clear bra film is very shiny and its surface is like glass coating. When the paint is clean and very good or more, even capturing a seam is a challenge.

      You're better read than that Atlas. 😏   British science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke formulated three adages that are known as Clarke's three laws, of which the third law – that "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" – is the best known and most widely cited.   Stribeck and the pivotable Hersey Number isn't voodoo nor snake oil. That part is physics. It's what marketing and bean counters do with it that is snake oil and voodoo.    Stribeck is the relationship between Hersey and the Coefficient of Friction. Within the Hersey Equation if viscosity and viscosity is 'Dependent' on.......heat.......and.......viscosity index or the temperature to viscosity slope.    Specifically Hersey is the viscosity AT THE TEMPERATURE IN THAT LOCATION FOR THAT SLOPE.   Hydrodynamic lubrication exist when the film thickness in the location is 3X the Ra roughness of the surface. This is irrespective of the hardness of the substrate. To obtain that thickness X viscosity is required for Y velocity at Z load. That's a lot of moving parts. It is also impossible to maintain in an ICE but nearly possible with a turbine under constant load.    What does that mean? Error heavy and operate light. Wear is inevitable but the rate of wear and the milage obtainable are a function of prevailing conditions and HABITS. The only penalty is viscous drag and at fractions so low as to be well worth the effort. Double the life, half the manufacturing carbon foot print. Greed is the only impediment.    The materials generated by SwRI are the RESULT not an estimation or a hypothesis.    Don't delude yourself sir, EV's have as many pitfalls as ICE's. We just don't know what they are yet and it will take longer to sort as MARKETING and GREEDY CEO's have had more time to polish the turd they are selling.

      You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.
