this is a weird issue i've never seen on anything else. but the needle for my fuel gauge actually.... flickers? is the right word perhaps. it bounces back and forth. not far almost not even noticeably. but enough that the needle is blurry compared to the other gauges. is this a loose ground? or something more serious i've never had a fuel gauge do this before. i'm stumped lol

EDIT: vid coming soon. damn phones

Wife's Suburban has a fuel gauge that does the same thing, vibrates like a tuning fork.Been doing it for years, still accurate though.

Same here, 98 Yukon. The needle on the fuel gauge jitters or whatever you want to call it but has done it for a very long time. No idea what causes it but the gauge keeps working, just a little jittery.

Wow, never seen anything like that before. I bet a used instrument cluster from the local junkyard or eBay would solve the problem.

been doing some research and apparently this is common, from some other threads on various sites ive found these gauges actually have a pretty thick oil in them thats supposed to work as a dampner rather than a lubricant. it makes sense to me that a fuel gauge would act this way it should be constantly feeding back the fuel level afterall its a constantly changing reading. i suppose i could do the fix detailed in this thread http://www.gmt400.com/forum/showthread.php?15139-HOW-TO-Fix-Bouncy-Hummingbird-Fuel-Gauge-Needlebut honestly it doesn't bother me that much. and like all you guys said. it still works lol

My oil pressure needle jitters around, but not like yours. I was told it was a bad sending unit, and would require pulling the dashboard to fix. The mechanic recommended I ignore it, as it would be a lot of labor to fix.
