Funny, I might be trading my Silvy for a GMC tomorrow....

there is a grade control braking on the silverado and the trailer package has hill desent I have 1LT and it has both. Really I just like the bowtie better "real men wear bowties" lol. I have a 1LT and I love it, I was going to buy the 2LT but I couldnt get the exact package I wanted and took the 1LT with everything I wanted outside of the black grill insert which I fixed very quickly thanks to a member of this forum. You will be happy and the front of your truck will look awesome cause bowties are awesome lol

So the GMCs don't have grade control braking on their max tow packages? Didn't know that.

My Sierra has a grade controlling brake, I've only noticed it when I have the tow/haul mode activated and want owing my boat.

Actually I don't see any problem with my Headlights either.

(thinking... hmmm...) pretty much the same truck.

what I do like better on the GMC is the plastic trim around the wheel wells.

I agree from a pure aesthetics perspective as well as the fact that I've read that it helps to protect the paint from getting rubbed off by the plastic mud flaps.

You will be able to see better for two reasons. 1, better headlights. 2, you won't have your nose up in the air thinking you are better than someone driving a Chevy. :chevy: Same truck under the skin. Plus you'll get a few more unusable my link themes. Unless you happen to be a 14 year old gaming addict.

They are definitely identical. A few styling cues are different, otherwise the same trucks. That's actually a big part of why I'm perfectly content to make the brand swap. As long as I'm not giving up anything meaningful, I have no issues at all.

The more I think about this, I believe I got my features confused. Grade Braking and Hill Descent Control are two different things. The Z71 has the the Hill Descent feature, and I think that's the one that works at slow speeds. So, I likely am not actually giving up what I thought I might.

Mine has it - Appears the Silvy does too. There's a feature called Hill Descent Control that the Z71 has, and I believe that's more for the slow speed stuff.

Grade Braking activates when the truck detects that you're on a grade and that you have pressed the brake (or are holding it) to maintain speed control. It downshifts the motor (sometimes ridiculously so) to give engine braking assist.

From the brochure:

TRANSMISSION: 6-speed automatic, electronically controlled with overdrive and Tow/Haul mode. Includes Cruise Grade Braking and Powertrain Grade Braking

Standard on all trim levels, so nothing will be missed there. :)

I have seen complaints of weak headlights claiming sub par performance from the lights. Cant see any issue myself.

That is because you are in the dark due to sub par performance from the lights.

I am only kidding & own a 2013 Sierra. Have not driven either a K2XX Silverado or Sierra at night to know anything other than what I have read on this forum.

That stuff aside. These incentives must be something running up in the North East? Not seeing spectacular deals in the Midwest like what is being mentioned.

Good luck on the trade though.

Current GMC deals are on SLT crew models "in stock the longest", offering 20% off MSRP. There aren't any out there, though.

Current Chevy deals are on the LT models, offering various amounts of stackable cash, an MSRP discount, plus the opportunity to get an extra $1500 via Private Offer. Total drop on the truck I'm lining up is from about 47 to a little under 39 with all of my various discounts, rebates, and the private offer.

If you look on the web sites, the offers look bland. If you talk to the dealers, they see all of the various options and can get you the better info.

Driving last night in the GMC - horrid wash from the lights. It concentrates together in the distance on high beam at a point, and the sides of the road are simply not illuminated. Turning onto my street requires slowing to an almost stop because you can't see a THING until you've completed the turn - and there are often cars parked at the beginning of the road.

That isn't why I'm trading the truck. There's plenty of threads on the lighting issues - please discuss details there.

I took advantage of this deal and got nearly 15k off sticker before even talking trade. I love the new crewcab! However it did take me a little time to find the truck I wanted. 3 dealerships and they all sold their 1 SLT at that price discount. They told me for them, the 18th would be when the next available one on their lot would show up. Prior, its like i just missed getting the deal because someone else bought the "sale" truck before I did.

I found a dealer 3 hours away that had the exact truck I was looking for with the discount. They were offering 13k straight off sticker. I got them down about another $1500 and had them throw in a factory bedrug, bed mat and upgraded GMC floor mats. Awesome dealership.

There are only two trucks (were?) within 250 miles of me and neither dealer would talk trade with my local dealer. Not interested in forging a new relationship with a new dealer, and the SLT has more than I really actually am looking for. So, opted to go the Chevy route and am actually buying a brand new truck still in transit to my dealer. Will be delivered this week.

I traded a double cab 14 Sierra Z71 in for my custom Sport Z71. Minus the constant compliments that I received for the Sierra, you'll probably get more worth from the Silverado. I traded the Sierra for two reasons, the 3.08 gears and the fact my kids are teenagers now and needed more room in the back. For the money and options I believe the Silverado is the way to go. I got options on the custom sport that aren't available on the Sierra.

I went from a quad cab(dodges double cab equivalent) to a crew cab and that will be the biggest improvement. Haha literally. Seriously though, if you ever have backseat passengers, they will love you for it.
