Yep. That's essentially what Sport in the Grand Cherokee does. I've tried using the gear switches on the shift lever of my 2014 5.3/6 but it's not the same and the shifts hesitate. We may be expecting more from a truck than they are designed for. After all, who tries to drive a pick-up like a sports car? Me.

And we already know GM has this available in the cars. It's definitely in the new Camaro and Corvette. Dump the tow/haul button, put a dial on the dash with options like, ECO, SNOW, MUD, SPORT, TOW, 'RACE', etc, etc.

That way we can get our EPA gaming, sluggish throttle response for good gas mileage, and then the roast the tires, sharp throttle and shifts for the those of us that like to drive like animals. As well, it would save many of us from having to risk voiding our warranty to improve the drivability of the vehicle.

The new sport mode in the Durango's and the F150's would seriously make me consider jumping ship. I just want to drive my truck like it is a sports car. And yes, I have had many fast cars in my days, but I can't drive them all the time; why should I suffer when having to drive the truck because I need the room in the bed or have to take a road trip, haha.

The issue with this is allot of people are worried about warranty issues down the road. Plus the additional cost associated with this doesn't help. A factory option sport mode would be ideal.

True. I've never worried about warranty myself. I do agree though, a sport mode would be awesome!

I would be happy with a manual mode that does something lol. You can't even see what gear these trucks are in at any given time..... guess I shouldn't care. What I can do in M mode on this 8 speed or the 6 speed GM's is what I can do in drive on my 2013 F150..... except it will show me what gear it is in along with what the maximum gear allowed will be. In M mode it forces that gear in the transmission and makes it stay there regardless of throttle position. That's a lot more useful than M in a Gm truck lol.

GM manual mode is very easy to use. Pick the highest gear you wish to use and go, very simple. It will not allow the truck to shift higher than your selected gear, just like you describe with the Ford.

A factory sport mode isn't going to happen with a Silverado/Sierra.

These 1/2 ton pickups are not sports cars, don't handle like sports cars, and never will act like a sports car.

If improved drivability and increased power is what you want, a tune from Black Bear Performance is the way to go. The few dollars it costs for their results is well worth paying for.

GM manual mode is what is... and it's kind of hokey.

M on a GM truck is just what I can do with the +/- button on the F150 in drive... M on them is totally different and god forbid I like it lol. I already have an F150 .... and a Tundra that has the same kind of hokey manual mode as GM... I will drive whichever one I want thanks. I like my Chev but there are things other oems do that are an improvement.

Go get yourself an F150 or outdated Tundra since you seem to prefer those shifting options. No need keeping a vehicle you are so unhappy with.

Yep you know what.. you are right. I can't stand this Chev...... I mean it's awful that I enjoy driving it, think it's one of the nicest trucks I have had in a hell of a long time but that's good solid advice. I will just sell it........ Not. Lol.

Wow, this is exactly how I felt when I first had my 5.3/6spd with 3.42's. Shame that some still experiencing this on the newer 6.2/8spd. I still think GM gimped these new trucks to achieve higher MPG ratings.

I also have a 2014 5.3 SLT CC with 3.42's. I have had no issues with my truck at all. I was wanting to trade for the new 6.2 8speed but now I think I better count my blessings and just tune the one I have.
