Gibson exhaust on 6.2 Sierra

Installed a Gibson catback (dual split side rear exit design behind each rear wheel) over the labor day weekend. BIG change in sound, cold start is quite a bark and idle has a nice rumble/burble. It is alot less "hollow" sounding than the flowmaster force II system I had on my 5.3 truck....and definitely louder overall.

Around town and @ even the lightest throttle application this exhaust really gives some nice deep tones....but once cruising and getting over speeds of 40-45mph it tames down quite a bit -w/ cruise control on @ 70, 75, and 80 mph either in 4 cyl or 8 cyl mode there is NO DRONE - NONE, I was surprised actually given how loud the truck sounded around town and @ idle/low speeds, AND given the exhaust is a very straight-through design w/ a "small" muffler.

You can hear the hum of the exhaust, but it is not intrusive and would not be "headache inducing" IMO - from what I've experienced thus far it is actually QUIETER in 4 cyl mode @ highway speeds, no "helicopter" noise.

One negative I guess I could point out is that there is a noticeable vibration/sensation through the floor of the cab from the exhaust tone, not something that would deter me from installing it again, and I did notice my old flowmaster system had this to a lesser degree as well, I think has alot to do w/ muffler placement and lack of resonator

If you wanted to tame this Gibson exhaust down I suppose you could always weld a resonator in some place, but overall I am very pleased w/ the exhaust, install was a breeze, quality seems very good no fitment issues, the piping is all 3" 409 stainless and the tips are polished double walled 304 stainless....I think the tip outlets are 4" I will post vid when I get a chance....but iphone camera does not do it justice.

Lastly...this is the first gibson exhaust I have purchased and the first I have had an lengthy experience listening to - I would describe it as a blend of magnaflow deep tones @ partial throttle but has a bit of that "borla burble" sound to it as well...its definitely more on the "muscle" hairy chested side of exhaust notes while something like corsa is more "exotic" higher tone in nature IMO.

I would recommend...for the price, I AM SO GLAD I THOUGHT TWICE OF THE GM CATBACK!!!!

I'm glad you like it. I also have been impressed by Gibson, especially for the price.

I have one for my 2015 6.2 Silverado. Dual out behind the passenger rear wheel. Sounds awesome. Very happy with it. Only thing I would recommend is getting band clamps instead of the u bolts that come in the kit. I can't comment on V4 mode as mine is turned off with my tuner. For the money this is the best exhaust going..

Did either of y'all look at the Gibson Super Truck which exits in front of the rear passenger wheel? I'm deciding between dual in front or behind

Run it all the way behind the axle, come on man its not the '80's...

Hahaha well I wasn't around in the '80's so maybe I just want what I never had

When I called Gibson to talk to them about which system to get they said the Super Truck was louder, more aggressive sounding and the Dual Sport made the biggest gains on the dyno for the 6.2L( small difference but noticeable).

I thought that behind the front tires was the 80's. This is how I see it. If we all liked the same thing. Then this website would be boring and dull. Sneakypete6 please don't let his comment discourage you from putting the exhaust how you want. It's your truck it's your money.

For sure. I wouldn't let that dissuade me from what I wanted.
