American ones may look cooler but I feel like those Mercedes would drive circles around most of the stuff here.

Other than at the airport I don't think I saw any police/law enforcement while I was in Munich and the surrounding area. It was strange to be in Saudi Arabia and see them running Crown Vics. With the older light bars and earth tone paint they looked like they belonged on the set of Smokey and the Bandit.

Notice the lights are not red/blue. Not illegal!

The bars don't have to be red/blue. All of the new cars have LED bars and they're clear but then show the red/blues.

The other points - Why speed in a construction zone. Even at 45 cars are really moving when they're within feet of you.

This looks to be the exact vehicle you ran across.

These are promo vehicle that are shown to PD's that are looking into purchasing these Tahoe's as police units. In Texas they would have to actually attempt to pull someone over for it to be considered a violation. But I would also like to say that it's pretty stupid to be driving this thing around as a civilian. Police typically have a duty to act and these yahoo's are screwed if the SHTF and everyone starts looking at them.

Also as far as the lights go, it has nothing to do with their color. We have clear bars on our units but they are colored LED's (red/blue/white).

There is no legal expectation that the police are obligated to "protect and serve" - the only service expectation is to enforce laws. I believe the Supreme Court made that determination.

So if SHTF and there would not be an expectation for police to "protect and serve", I cannot imagine why GM would have any liability at all.'

I recently purchased a 2015 Tahoe PPV and took the spot light off and changed the black wheels, not because I was fearful of driving a cop-like car, but out of respect for real cops - I was tired of people waving me ahead as I merged on the freeway or letting me pull ahead at gas pumps etc.

I know real cops have a shitty enough job as it is, why should I steal favors and shows respect that are meant for real cops.

As far as looking to cops to bail us out any time something goes wrong, are we now a nation of helpless fools that needs to look to authority figures for everything?

In defense of the OP, if this was on US 23, there's a giant area with reduced speeds and no actual work happening. But otherwise yeah, slow down in work areas.

I had "a part time forced job" in high school, for some things I may have not done correctly. Not going to get into that, but my "job" was to wash the cruisers, I got to drive them to the car wash and back (10 miles) and I was in high school!

I learned a long time ago that Cops are my friend and when I see then it causes me no concern. People who are worried about Cops haven't come to terms with following the law. If you are a true law abiding citizen then you never have to think twice about interactions with the Police.

Your statement has good intentions, but there are true law abiding citizens that think twice about an interaction with police (speaking from an inside position).
