Anyone have problems first time installing - not powering up??

Fog bulbs worked just great!

Actually, I'm having a little trouble getting the fogs to snap in. On my driver's side, it's in but doesn't seem that both the top and bottom clip have locked in place (just the top) and on the passenger side I can't get either side to clip in. I even had my nephew try it to make sure it wasn't just me. I ended up putting the old bulbs back in for now. Headlights went in no issue, but fogs are frustrating me. :(

Hi all,

New as a member to this forum but I’ve been reading up on the LED lighting for a while now. I purchased the 9012 LED’s from Xenon Depot. Came in over the holidays and I finally installed Monday. I’ve read mixed opinions on using or not using the CANBus so I decided to get them just in case. I installed both lights without issues, didn’t use the CANBus. Locked both bulbs in the 3-9 position as many here recommended. Both lights fired right up, didn’t notice any flickering. Put everything back together, backed the truck out of the garage and here is where the problems begun. The driver side bulb went out after about 1-2 minutes while the passenger side stayed on. I checked all the connections, tried again and the same thing happened. I next connected the CANBus and the lights didn’t even come on. So I pulled out my trusty multimeter and started going through the wiring. Without the CANbus I’m getting 12V to both bulbs. With the CANbus plugged in I’m getting 1.47V to the bulbs. Hard to believe but it seems I got two bad CANBus’s from XD. I spoke to their customer service and they are sending two new CANBus’s so I’m hoping this will resolve the issue. Bottom line, I’ve not had a good experience installing these. It’s all plug and play, but does not seem to be working as advertised. Anyone else have a similar experience these bulbs? How did you manage to fix?

Not sure why but it seems these trucks are not all created equal. I’ve read that many here are running these LED’s without the CANbus adapters without any issues. When I connected my lights without the CANbus they both initially worked. Than one shut off after a minute or two with the truck running, one stayed on. No idea why other than it’s the computer telling the lights to shut off. But that why just one? When I used the CANbus adapters the lights didn’t come on at all. I reversed the polarity and still nothing. Was getting 1.4V instead of 12V out of the adapter which led me to believe I had two bad adapter. Will try reinstalling when new CANbus adapters get here.

When I installed mine, I used the canbus right from the start and they have worked perfectly with no issue since day one.

I bought Vleds ultra output. Let the truck run for half hour and they started flickering. I took them out and put my hid kit back in for the time being. Hopefully I can get this problem worked out with canbus.

Xenondepot canbus CBFIX arrives and I only tried to install on driver side. No luck still. Anyone with this problem? Should both be installed to work? I just hate to get same results with more disassembly of air box. I'll reach out to customer service once more and possibly return for replacement or ???

The instructions in my case is that the canbus polarity will need to be reversed.

I picked up the xd 9012's from ebay used but like new for $15. Guy put them in and didn't like them. My question is on my 14 sierra, when you put the bulbs in first without locking they are at the 3 and 9 position, even a slight turn seems to tweak this? Seems like a poor design to me? How did you guys get it locked in securely at 3 and 9? Mine seem to wobble a bit even with a slight turn and I worry they will wiggle loose while trail driving.

Update, just took a short drive at night, and the lights are not impressive. I had the upgraded headlight bulbs from the dealer tsb, and these don't seem to reach as far or are as bright as the dealer bulbs, the color temp is nicer and looks better when looking at the truck, but overall I am not impressed, and really glad I didn't pull the trigger and pay full price for these. To me the bulbs should install fully locked at the appropriate beam for each vehicle application. Second I don't understand the 2 led design, with one on each part 180 degrees from each other. I don't understand why they don't add more led's at 3 6 9 and 12 or more. I think led light advancement is great and had high hopes however I think the headlight design needs refinement. Has anyone found anything better?

On a side night I replaced my fog lights with these http://www.ebay.com/itm/331341709921?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I am beyond impressed with the difference they made compared to the factory fog lights. Amazingly brighter, reach farther and wider, and a great color, yet I never get flashed with brights nor from a distance do I think they are annoying at all. I think the trick is a wise spread of lights all the way across the bulb housing.

canbus finally came in, installed over the weekend. Too about 20 minutes. Both lights work great. Definitely a lot brighter than what the truck came with and combined with the LED fogs greatly increase the light output and visibility
