Has anyone that installed aftermarket led headlights had issues with the beam pattern being brighter towards the outside of the road. I put Vleds in and they seem to be brighter towards the opposite side of the road and the passenger side ditch. I have rotated them multiple times. I started with the 3 and 9 o'clock then went to 6 and 12 and now back to original orientation. They still are brighter towards the outside area instead of directly in front of the vehicle. I have adjusted the 2 10mm bolts for the headlight to aim towards the center and I did not get that much adjustment. Any tips for this issue? I did not have any issues with my hid kit being brighter towards the sides of the road. I like the idea of the led but need a better beam pattern

Anyone got any input or experience with these lights. Look really promising. http://opt-7.com/opt7-fluxbeam-led-headlight/ I purchased a light bar for behind the grill install with the wiring kit and was very impressed. But really hope for some input on the fluxbeam. Thanks guys.

While I'm new here and have the 2016 Sierra with Bi-Xenon HID's I just wanted to chime in on CANBUS.

 

My 2014 GMC Terrain and 2012 Buick Regal required CABUS correction capacitors (aka Anti Flickers) on my Morimoto XB HID's because the low beam bulb was used as the DRL. If your halogen bulb (often low beam) is used for the DRL you need a CANBUS or capacitor system. When using a halogen low beam for a DRL the voltage is pulsed to produce a dimmer light. The filament in the halogen bulb never ignites to it's maximum luminosity. LED's and HID's especially need constant power to their transformer or ballast.

 

Sounds like the 14/15 Sierra base model didn't have the LED DRL? Either way, from reading each page looks like mostly everyone had the LED DRL and hence the CANBUS requirement for them was irrelevant.

 

I tested the Xenon Depot LED headlights in my Terrain before going HID and to me HID's throw light down range by about 30% more. LED's were brighter up close with a bit more flood to the sides. Also HID's you can get in pure white by going 4300 or 4500K which is what I wanted personally. My 16 Sierra with white HID's and the LED fogs on you can see side by side how blueish the LED's are.

 

I highly recommend against any active heat management system (e.g. fan) for LED's. If the fan dies you're going to bad shape real fast. They are also susceptible to the elements of course, which is usually only an issue for the fogs as they typically are exposed to the elements on the back side unlike most headlights.

I really have been debating this for some time now... I had a DDM HID kit in my 09' GMT and they lasted years with no issues (in the fogs) even when I traded the truck they still worked great. They were 35W and they did start to fog the lens a little but they worked great.

 

My fear is that the LED's are just not there yet and a projector is really designed for an HID bulb/intensity... I just don't want to cut anything under the hood and wish there was a (satisfactory) plug-in-play option.

I just put these in my truck last week. They've been great, 100 times better than stock or the led opt7's i had in before. Very easy to install, no trimming and everything fits with the cover on. Just have to make sure the led's are at the 3 and 9 position. I highly recommend them.

by 3 n 9 can u explain more on that I replaced mine and noticed on the driver side I have a black spot towards the left of beam. I installed them exactly how u would stock bulbs and they locked in perfect

I've installed these without canbus and work perfectly. Only problem I'm having is with the left side having a black spot towards left of beam. I installed them just like a stock bulb and went as far right locking into place. By three and 9 position what are y'all meaning can anyone help..?

Think of a clock. The led diodes should face the 3 and 9. So if your looking at your truck from the front one led diode should face towards the grill and the other toward the fender.

so in other words the whole bulb itself will be facing vertical and diodes facing out to right and left bumper at 3-9

Yes, if I remember right the wire should come out the bottom of light. Leds should face horizantal.

hey everybody im new here, but I have recently installed led headlight bulbs 6000k in my 2014 GMC

Sierra and they would come on but go out after a few moment, I have installed load capacitors to both to

see if that would fix but didn't, they stayed on for awhile with just the lights on but when I started my truck

they went out and wouldn't come back on.. any suggestions??
