Tabs on the kit plug in. Didn't trim anything stock

I trimmed the bulb itself, NOT the truck mount. Seemed to fit better.

So today I spoke with a service rep from Vled and inquired about the new 4500 lm kit offered in the 9006 bulb. Now I know that bulb will work but was told that due to the fact the style of led they offer won't work with our sierras because the duct cover can't be reinstalled. Is this totally true or are we stuck with the xenon depot led headlight kit.

I have no problems with that except the huge difference of 4000 lm in total between both headlights....

Xenon depot kit 2500 lm x 2 = 5000 lm

Vled kit 4500 lm x 2 = 9000 lm

Second comes the fogs. Both places offer the Cree bulbs and better kits for fogs ( not really wanting the Cree bulb)

Vled has the 5202 3000lm kit....... Was told the same issue as the headlights

Xenon depot has the 2500 lm kit but offered under the PSX24W kit

Assuming both are plug and play what's the best option even mix matching these options

I am using the 4500lumen LED bulbs. no issues in Sierra housing. does not get hot enough to even burn my fingers, hot to touch after a several hours of drive with OEM dust cover. They are just saying it to cover their warranty.

How's the cutoff with the LED headlights? Not sure why but I think I'd get annoyed if the cutoff wasn't as sharp as stock regardless of light output.

It's as sharp as stock imo.

Ok. So I bought the LED headlights and fog lights from xenon depot. I installed them today and when I got done my check engine light was on. I have a 15 GMC Sierra 1500. Has anyone that installed these had the engine light come on?

I would assume it is because you unhooked the the sensor or plug in that connects to the air filter when you were taking it out to get the the passenger side headlight housing. it will turn off after a hand full of starts once connected back together.

So what about us guys that dont have the LED DRL Headlights. I have the standard headlights so the DRLs are the headlight bulbs just dimmed. Im assuming that's where the CANBUS adapter is needed. Anyone with the standard headlights running the xenondepot 9012s with no issues?

Yup I've got the 9012 kit and PSX24W fogs installed with the CANbus. No issues at all.

This is for anyone that is thinking about installing the 9012 Xenon Depot LED kit

Driver Side - first thing is to remove the dust cap. Then remove the stock bulb. Now for the 9 and 3 position.... Yes it does make a difference but very minor. I played with the bulb in different positions and came to the conclusion that the only way for the bulb to fit close to 9 and 3 I put it closer to 4 and 10. This gave the bulb enough to grab the socket it sits in with decent cutoff lines. The CANbus harness and ballast will fit in behind the dust cap on both sides. Just take your time to tuck it in all neat. Now for the issue on both sides was getting the harness to click tight with the rubber O rings. Yes they will connect but you have to work the O ring in the right position and use a little force when trying to connect them.

The CANbus harness had to connected backwards so the tab won't be locking the connection but that doesn't matter it's tight once pushed together. Like others posted it needs to be reversed for the correct polarity.

Passenger Side - you need to remove the air box and loosen the intake tube. There is 4 screws for the air box that need removed and once you loosen the tube and screws are out of the box you just need to pull the base of the air box up and out. It's just rubber tabs on the bottom that are pressure fitted. Don't worry you won't break anything. Now there is a rubber cover you need to pop two push tabs out of on the top and fold down to get at the dust cover. Installing the bulb at this point it the same as driver side and just reverse the removal.

Now for the PSX24W fogs

The easiest way to install these are to pop the entire fog out. You will have to get your head underneath to do this. There are 3 grey tabs on the back of the fog light that have two black tabs that need pressed to release. Once all 3 3 are released you can now push the fogs out and install the bulb. The same issue with the headlight O rings are with the rubber seal around the plug for the fog lights. They just need to be pushed tight and they will click together. Now you can push the harness and ballast back through the hole and click the fog back in. You may want to zip tie the ballast underneath once everything is installed.

Basically that's the install.

Are the lights better over stock? Yes... But to really compliment these Headlights these Fog's are a must.

There is 4 screws for the air box that need removed and once you loosen the tube and screws are out of the box you just need to pull the base of the air box up and out. It's just rubber tabs on the bottom that are pressure fitted. Don't worry you won't break anything. Now there is a rubber cover you need to pop two push tabs out of on the top and fold down to get at the dust cover. Installing the bulb at this point it the same as driver side and just reverse the removal.

Thanks for the tip on how to remove the bottom half of the air cleaner box - the owner's manual tells me to take the truck to the dealer to replace the 9012 bulb on the passenger side - pretty ugly if you are nowhere near a dealer when it burns out ...

I replaced the stock bulbs with Sylvania SilverStar bulbs - whiter light but the pattern is the same. I'll post again when I have had a chance to run at night.

Do you use the same LED bulb for the Silverado? The website says H11.

Just pulled the trigger on these, with the sale and black Friday discount now was a good time to upgrade. Thanks for all the install tips and links, I'm sure it will come in handy putting these in.
